We had the good fortune of connecting with Ronnette Jackson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ronnette, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I pursued a creative career because I want to be a positive voice for girls like me. Growing up I was always complimented for the way I dressed, but because of my body type overlooked for being tall and slim meanwhile other thicker girls got all of the attention. Although I wasn’t concerned about relations or relationships at that age it kind of weighed on me. I don’t want young girls to be ashamed of their looks no matter what size they are and fashion also plays a big part in that.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
What sets me apart from others is that there is only one me lol I don’t think people realize how much of a blessing that is. Also my ability to adapt to any room, any situation, converse with anyone on any subject. I’m really a peoples person and I love to show love! I’m most proud of my growth as a person which is what got me where I am today. I’m in such a peaceful place in my life and I’m just excited to see where my journey takes me. Entrepreneurship IS NOT EASY and honestly I gave up for a really long time, but having people reach out asking about was I going to ever continue with my business and even you guys reaching out to me for this interview let me know to keep going because someone is watching and rooting for you! I’ve learned to be unapologetically myself because someone somewhere will be inspired by your positivity and confidence. I want the world to know that my brand is about self confidence and living in your truth. No one is perfect, but don’t allow anyone to write your story for you regardless of what it is!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Oh wow ok so New York is HUGE, but as an avid foodie I would definitely take bestie to Brooklyn Moon for some curry mussels and a sea water lol their signature drink, Miti Miti for some of the best tacos I’ve ever tasted along with a lavender margarita (my favorite drink from them), I would definitely go bowling, visit the vessel for some dope photos, shopping at some of the best thrift stores, pool halls. OMG it’s just so much to do we’ll definitely have A TIME!!!!!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Yes I would love to give a shoutout to my mom first and foremost for always keeping me grounded and being my backbone through it all, even to this day! I would also love to shoutout my friends who are also considered family for growing with me, they play a major role by simply being their AUTHENTIC selves! Lastly shoutout to the people who support me near or far from messages on social media, asking me to style them, asking for creative advice business wise sometimes people even reach out to me for interior decor ideas IT’S INSANE and it honestly means SO MUCH they probably have no idea!
