Meet Rose Edma | CEO Of Pink Label

We had the good fortune of connecting with Rose Edma and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Rose, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Pink Label started out as an idea in 2018 inspired by my passion for makeup and beauty. I grew up mesmerized watching my older cousins getting dolled up to hang out with friends or go to parties every weekend. When I discovered YouTube tutorials my freshman year in college, it became a safe place that would inspire me countless times throughout the years. I was obsessed with learning how to perfectly put on my faux lashes, racked up on cheap Jewelry from the hair store, and let’s not forget the glossy thick lip glosses that came in 50 different scents and flavors (I had them all). Ultimately my love for beauty and self expression drove me to create this brand and bring my vision to life. I want people to feel confident, and happy when they think about Pink Label. I know that building confidence is more than just putting on eyelashes and lip gloss, it’s a lifestyle. You have to want it, and accept the hardships and work to maintain it. Pink Label is my way of sharing a piece of my self confidence with the world.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
One of my proudest moments in the past year was getting the courage to officially launch my business Pink Label on August, 2, 2020. Although I had been working and planning behind the scene for over a year prior, I still felt unprepared. I tried to stall and even blame the pandemic, telling myself “Nobody will buy anything”. Luckily for me I have a tight circle of friends who are not only business minded but they want to see me win. In my moment of doubt and fear they pushed me out of my comfort zone. The road to success is not easy, there are many different paths, with ups and sometimes even more downs. Some days I feel on top of the world and so motivated that I could take on anything, however there have been times when crawling out of bed seems to be my biggest achievement for that day. We live in the times of social media, where most people are concerned about looking well put together and happy, sometimes I feel pressured to display fake happiness and success, that’s unrealistic but easier said than done. Three of the most important lessons that have helped keep me grounded in my time as an entrepreneur are: 1.Don’t compare your success or business to anybody else, this will only set you up for failure. 2.Learn how to listen to constructive criticism and make necessary changes, this is imperative if you want your brand to do well. and 3. Your family and friends are not your target audience/customers, please don’t get upset if people you know don’t support your brand or purchase items every time you have a new product. Nine times out of ten what your selling may not be their personal style or choices. When I launched my brand my friends and family supported me in different ways; whether they purchased items, reposted my flyers or simply acknowledged my accomplishment. I have put my all into starting this brand and Pink Label is here to stay!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m honestly a homebody and even though we are in Florida I personally hate going to the beach however the rare occasions I indulge there are so many good restaurants to choose from like The sugar factory, The Licking, or CJ’s Crab Shack if you love seafood. If your like me and you prefer a pool over the beach then you will love the Baia Beach Club Restaurant, there’s a spa, pool and dining just make sure to make reservations. I also love going downtown for a nice walk, the ambience, the busy streets filled with people, the restaurants my favorite is American Social for brunch, it sets the perfect vibe and makes me so happy. Wynwood Art district is a nice if you have an appreciation for art, although it can also be the perfect spot for flawless Instagram photos. Let’s not forget to mention the countless Hattian restaurants ( I could eat dinner from a different one every night ) my favorite two are Chef Creole and Piman Bouk.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
This is dedicated to the most resilient, hardworking, and most graceful woman I know, My Mother. Thank you for not only raising me but making sure that I grew up to be just as fierce as you!
