We had the good fortune of connecting with Ross Seay and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ross, what role has risk played in your life or career?

As an entrepreneur, I always believed that failure and success, for the most part, hinge on how an individual deals with fear and risk. The confidence level in taking calculated risk is what separates most successful people from those who have failed. Many great ideas haven’t come to light because people couldn’t find it in themselves to believe. I learned at an early age that self-doubt is the number one enemy of dreams and visions. You’ll achieve more than most by just getting started. The chances I’ve taken on my ideas have rewarded me more than anything else in my life. Even the risk that didn’t pay off as I wished rewarded me with invaluable lessons to learn from. Lessons I was able apply to my next idea to make my execution better. Aim for the sky, and if you don’t reach your goal, you’ll more than likely end up somewhere close.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I am a huge lover of Art and Culture so I enjoy visiting Wynwood. I love what they have cultivated there and it’s one of my favorite places to go for a stroll and grab something to eat with my friends. As a former musician, I try to catch as many concerts, festivals, or live shows as I can there as well. As for places to dine Redrooster, Morgans, and Honey Uninhibited are some of my favorites. Some of my favorite places in the city to visit include the Perez Art Museum and Calle Ocho, Brickell and of course what’s Miami without the beach and water sports.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to credit my mother for being my biggest inspiration and for instilling in me work ethic, self-confidence , integrity, and the importance of paying attention to detail. These values i live by every day so I can’t thank her enough. I would also like to thank my high school guidance counselor Patricia Thorn for being a positive influence on my life and her guidance over the years. The conversations I had in her office had enormous impact on the man I am today.
