We had the good fortune of connecting with Ruben Rodriguez Santana and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ruben, how do you think about risk?
Risk taking is something that we all do at certain point in our life, the most important decisions in life came with some kind of risk, what career should I take? Should I have kids? Should I quit my job? Should I start a new business?, The risk is always there, however, the way we manage it is what matters, otherwise, risk can become gamble and gamble, for me, is not having control, I like to have control.
I consider myself a high risk decision maker person, I enjoy taking risk, measured ones.
I have faced mayor risks in my life, one of the most important was when I decided to start the business here in the US while living in Venezuela, I spend 2 years traveling back and forward, away from my family, birthdays, fathers day, you named, once HAUS was already stablished, I took the greatest risk, moved to this wonderful country with my wife and two little children just to give them a better future.
Every day I face decisions that carry risk, I own a business that has many employees, subcontractors, associates, people with family, all that people may be affected by any risk I decide to take, I can’t just think about myself, I must think about all those people who depend on that risky decision that I must make, again, I cant gamble, I am an industrial engineer, I studied risk management, risk control, decision making, so the important thing here is to take the risk only after a thorough evaluation of it, but in any case, risk are an important part of the life itself.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
HAUS emerges as an idea of creating a multi-disciplinary concept of a “ONE STOP STORE” that allows the client to find a in a team of engineers, architectures, designers and decorators the way to accomplish the goal of having their space remodel. We commit on each activity the client decides to do. It was not an easy job, years and years of commitment and hard works, we have now more than 7 years in business in Miami delivering excellence, creating the most beautiful spaces, the journey has been excited, full of learned lessons and fulfilled goals, challenges accepted and achieved thanks to the great team that has been always side to side with me, with professionalism, ethics and commitment.
What set us apart from others is that we are not a company with a vertical structure, we are a horizontal company, with absolutely personalized treatment, we work with very exclusive clients who expect no less than that, our response capacity is immediate, with a high level of quality and commitment, which are very rarely seen in the construction world, and that is something that make me very proud.
Getting into new projects is absolutely exciting, know that you will change the perspective, the way that a space was conceived, and what I going to do to accomplish that is the most exciting thing on my business.
My goal is for people to recognize the brand for its quality, for its commitment, because the effort we put into each project is the maximum, I want everybody to know what we represent in HAUS, that we are proud of it and that we will be always here.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Great question.
For a visiting friend, I think Miami is all about beach, shopping, eating and night life.
I’ll take him to Marco Island Beach which is my favorite beach to spend the entire day there and to see the sunset which is amazing. We can also hit South Point, Sunny Isles beach and Las Olas Blvd in Ft Lauderdale.
We can go to Sawgrass Mills for shopping also al day long hahaha.
To eat I have many places, Xixon is my favorite for spanish food, we can go La Mar, Brasserie Laurel, Mandolin, have a nice pizza in Mr. 01, Miami has great options.
I love to spend time in Lauderdale by the Sea, walk around and have a nice evening there.
I’m not a huge fan of clubs and those things but we can check some of the Brickell’s clubs.
We can also go to the Hard Rock Hotel to spend some time there eating and visiting the casino.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My mother, who has always instilled in me the most important values in life, taught me that things are achieved with work and ethics, but above all with humanity.
My wife, Monica, she has sacrificed a lot to become the fundamental pillar that she is in my life, she has accompanied me in every decision I have made, she has been a counselor and a handkerchief for my tears at times too.
My brother Luis, an example of perseverance and effort.
Juan Poggi and Rosmina Di Bartolomeo from Poggi Design, Mr. Juan is a symbol of work, ethics, professionalism and dedication, he is one of the best interior designers I have ever met.
All my wonderful clients, who trusted in us to transform their spaces
