We had the good fortune of connecting with Saidi Glauser and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Saidi, how do you think about risk?
Risk taking is something I wish more ppl would do and I encourage everyone to just do it. It has played a major role in my life. My mom really is my inspiration and my role model to this. She is all about taking risks and has taught me to do the same for myself. Sometimes you really just have to jump into the ocean to see what’s out there. The worst feeling in the world to me is to think ; what if? There is no “what if”. You just have to take the risk and do what you think is best. If it works out , GREAT. If it doesn’t, its okay too and it might work next time. But you risked it and tried it out. Ive never been scared to try things out, to move to a totally different place or to say no to something to maybe get something else that you really wanted. I believe that what is meant for you will NEVER miss you. EVER.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I consider myself an Artist. Dancers are artists and so are stylists and creative directors and so on.

I started my online thrift store called GUAVA CLOSET because I’ve always been a fan of fashion and styling. A big part of it is because I truly believe in sustainability and would love to inspire more ppl to thrift and protect our home called earth. Not only am I selling handpicked pieces but also pieces I’ve recycled.
Guava Closet gives me space to be creative, explore the fashion world and play with different styles. If I would have the space I would sell anything that’s vintage. So far though I’ve been focusing on clothing and accessories.

Ive always been interested in Art in general. I love to paint, to recycle clothing and make it to something else, to explore with styling and aesthetics. Art is my form of expressing myself. I am in general a very private person. I have a hard time expressing myself so art has always helped me.

What makes me different than others is simply that there is just one Saidi Glauser. And that’s really it. I am me, a cuban woman raised in Switzerland and now living in Miami,US. My style is very versatile specially since I am a mix of very opposite cultures. Not just in fashion but also in dance.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
This question is pretty hard since I’ve lived in Miami for only a few years. So far I would definitely take her to eat tacos at taco stand in Wynwood. Go bar hoping in Wynwood, go have drinks at Savage. Go to the beach as much as possible in key west, south Miami Beach and Hollywood beach. Go to a drag brunch. From the top of my head these are the few things that I thought of.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My absolute overall mentor has been my Mother. The woman who has raised me to be the artist I am today. Who has taught me to believe in myself and do what I love most. She has taught me discipline and to ALWAYS finish what I have started.

Ive had different dance mentors throughout my career. Starting with my dance teacher from Switzerland, Tanja Mikhail. Who has given me my first opportunities in the industry and has taught me to be a professional dancer and Teacher.
Along the way I’ve had great teachers in NY that have contributed to my skill set and have helped me develop character and have helped me find who I truly am as a dancer and choreographer.

Im a big fan of reading and since im generally a dreamer I definitely recommend : “the Alchemist”, “I am a Badass”, “the power of visualization”, “the four agreements” and “I am that girl”. Great reads and definitely helped me train my mind to be/feel great and only live in positivity.
