We had the good fortune of connecting with SALUSTIANO and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi SALUSTIANO, what do you attribute your success to?
I think having a very recognizable and own style. From the beginning people did not need to look at the signature on the painting to know that it was my work.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Summarizing a lot, I could say that my work consists of trying to tell life from the inside. Focusing on spirituality, serenity and beauty as synonymous of absolute goodness, in the Platonic sense. My journey as an artist has not been easy, working with these concepts today in contemporary art is quite a challenge. But I believe that perseverance and faith in what we do is essential.
The lesson I learned? That work hard and tenacity we can achieve what we set out to do.
I would like people to know the great respect I have for them when dealing with each of my paintings.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Nara province, Japan. Specially the Kumano Kodo pilgrimage route. A route that runs through beautiful Buddhist temples and breathtaking landscapes. Pass through the Omine-Kumano Nature Park. Any small restaurant on this road is a small paradise to recharge your batteries and soak up the people, simple and extremely friendly.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Yes, my mother. I was 5 years old when I made the decision of to be an artist: I had made a drawing and I showed it to my mother. When she saw it she was amazed and surprised, then she went straight to me and hugged me full of emotion. I felt that this embrace somehow invested me with the responsibility of being an artist. It was as if I suddenly had permission to try. I considere that maternal permission is essential to develop all the potential everyone of us is carrying inside. Mi book ALMA MATER (Nurturing Mother, Mother who nurture us) is dedicated to her and, therefore, to all mothers who inspire and encourage all of us in a very loving way to archive and deliver the best of us.
