We had the good fortune of connecting with Samantha De Felice and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Samantha, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I have always loved cooking and baking, but was scared to take the risk of opening a business. Eventually, the timing worked out and I started Caked by Samantha in 2017. I am completely self taught and started by working on orders for family and friends. From there, Caked by Samantha grew via word of mouth and social media. Without referrals, this small business wouldn’t be where it is today.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I run and operate everything for Caked by Samantha from the marketing to baking to sales to the delivery. I think this allows me to really work with the client and ensure that their vision comes to life for their special event from start to finish. All of my products are made from scratch and fresh for every custom order. Sometimes, it can be overwhelming to do everything myself but that makes it so much more rewarding. I love seeing clients’ reactions to each work of art!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would have to thank my husband, Francesco, for always encouraging me to go out on my own and that my product is worth selling. My family and friends have also been extremely supportive by promoting me and using me for their events.
