We had the good fortune of connecting with Samantha Marcellino and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Samantha, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
In the beginning, my approach to work-life balance was skewed. As a stay-at-home mom for 12 years, I mistakingly felt I had “things to prove” when I started my company and fell into the trap that busy-ness equated success.
Over time, I’ve come to realize that true success isn’t measured by how busy I am but by the impact I’m able to make. I’ve learned that productivity isn’t necessarily correlated with the number of hours I spend glued to my computer screen.
As an entrepreneur, I’ve accepted that there will always be more to do.
In essence, I believe that balance is a myth. There will never be a perfect equilibrium. Instead, I resonate with Nora Roberts’ analogy of juggling glass and plastic balls.
She says, “The key to juggling is to know that some of the balls you have in the air are made of plastic and some are made of glass. And if you drop a plastic ball, it bounces, no harm done. If you drop a glass ball, it shatters, so you have to know which balls are glass and which are plastic and prioritize catching the glass ones.”.
In work and in life, some tasks are more delicate and crucial, while others are more forgiving if dropped. Prioritizing and identifying these tasks is the true key to “work-life balance.”
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My journey into entrepreneurship stems from a passion for connecting people and a knack for sales. From selling bracelets on the playground to securing sponsorships for my daughter’s PTA, I’ve always had a knack for salesmanship. This innate ability, combined with a fascination for digital marketing, led to the creation of SGS Media.
Despite facing self-doubt and uncertainty, I persevered, driven by a desire to help overwhelmed service providers market and sell their offers effortlessly. Along the way, I’ve encountered obstacles and challenges, from system failures to personal emergencies. However, each setback has been a learning opportunity, reinforcing my resilience and determination.
Today, I’m proud to lead SGS Media, empowering women entrepreneurs to leverage authentic and effective marketing strategies through my Community-First Marketing approach. My mission is to help others seize opportunities and bring their dreams to fruition, one authentic connection at a time.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I live in Palm Beach Gardens and my community is basically attached to the Sand Crane Golf Club, so let’s start there! We’ll spend some time at The Nest at their 2-story driving range with Trackmans for cocktails and definitely hit up their restaurant, The Dancing Crane, on Friday night for Prime Rib night.
Besides that, we’ll definitely visit:
Play Pickleball and then lay by the pool at LifeTime Fitness
Grab Brunch at Elizabetta’s in downtown West Palm Beach
and take a tour of the Jupiter Lighthouse

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Shannon McKinstrie and Emily Schwalbach of The Social Squad Society have been instrumental in my entrepreneurial journey. Their guidance and mentorship not only equipped me with the necessary skills but also modeled how to start a perfectly imperfect business, giving me the confidence to start my own. Additionally, Shannon’s course, “The Social Biz System,” provided me with the foundational systems to launch my business successfully.
I’m also grateful to Shanté Gorman of Sugarpunch Marketing for her generous sharing of knowledge and insights. Her guidance on pricing models and her Social Media Manager Success Incubator were invaluable in shaping my business strategy and approach.
Without the support and encouragement of these individuals, I wouldn’t have had the courage to pursue my entrepreneurial aspirations.
