We had the good fortune of connecting with Samuell Williams and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Samuell, how do you think about risk?
As it pertains to taking risk I think one of the important skills to develop is learning how to assess the opportunity that is quite often hidden behind the risk. One of the most valuable quotes that I received from one of my mentors is “history rewards the bold not the timid” and what I have always taken from that quote is in order to achieve the success that you desire you have to be willing to take risk and be bold because that’s exactly what sets you apart from everyone else, and that’s also what sets the stage for greatness. This has been the case several times throughout my life and career whether it was taking the risk to move from Chicago to Philadelphia or taking the risk to start my own business, or once my business was established taking the risk to uproot it and move to Miami full-time during the middle of a global pandemic.
I think it’s important to note that when it comes to entrepreneurship and life there’s a difference between having taken a risk, and being a risk taker. If you can develop the skill to become a risk taker it will greatly propel you forward on your journey towards success!
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I am the founder of the BVOYtraining academy, which stands for Best Version of Yourself. We are a personal development company specializing in fitness, nutrition and personal development coaching. We have been in business for 7 years working primarily with high level executives, entrepreneurs, athletes, and entertainers. What makes us unique is our approach to helping people. I found that in the fitness industry what people were really looking wasn’t just to get in shape they wanted to experience a change in their lives, and we saw the opportunity to provide them that with personal development coaching. So over that last several years we have found a process to seamlessly combine the two. A lot of our clients have already achieved success in some field or another so our focus has become show our people how not to compete, but how to create!
It hasn’t been easy but what has greatly helped us grow is establishing the process for forward motion, which is to acquire the information, apply the knowledge, study the results, make adjustments, and repeat. What we want the world to know is that life is primarily about challenging oneself to become a Better Version Of You and we are the perfect company to help you do that.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m not much for itineraries on vacation lol, but if I had a week with my best friend a few people places and things that we would have to check out are as follows.
Dinner: Komodoo, Swan, Dukunoo, Mr.Chow’s, Nobu, Milos, and Vista
Drinks: SOHO house, Negroni, Empire Cigar Lounge, One Hotel, Barsecco, The Goodtime Hotel, Joia Beach, and Kiki on the river
Hang out: There would definitely be a boat at least one day, Perez Art Museum, Wynwood Walls
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have been blessed along my journey to have been helped by some many wonderful people at pivotal points in my career, but I don’t think I have leaned on anyone more then my creative collaborator Geno Aloi. As quite an Entrepreneur himself he has been there every step of the way to help encourage, grow, and challenge me when needed. It’s hard to imagine that I would have made it as far as I have in business without him there to help guide me along the way.
There is also a book that I have read several times throughout my entrepreneurial journey that I use as sort of a well to draw from when I’m stumped on how to solve a problem or when I’m in need of perspective shift. That book is “think and grow rich” by Napoleon Hill
