We had the good fortune of connecting with Sandra Gonoretske and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sandra, Let’s talk about principles and values – what matters to you most?
Work Ethic. Being reliable, honest, accountable, professional, and respectful, are the essential key to success. More and more nowadays, companies, clients, employees, contractors, vendors or any third party don`t want to do business with those that are dishonest or that are negatively exposed in the media. Those that are not ethical tend not to be in the business for long. Doing business in a higher professionally and ethical manner will positively affect your reputation and may expose you to great opportunities.

What should our readers know about your business?
I run a Compliance and Risk Management Consultant company. I am passionate for lecturing people about work ethics and financial crimes prevention. I dedicate a significant part of my life to prevent and combat money laundering, corruption, terrorism, and other financial crimes. I believe there is always something to improve in a company and I help different businesses to mitigate their risks. Most of my clients hire me to help them on the review and enhance of their processes in order to comply with laws and regulations.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I am an outdoor person and there are plenty of things to do, or places to go to in Miami! I always take my friends to South Point. The view from the Pier is beautiful. If you like exercises, you can rent a bike and take a tour around Art Deco and finish with a dive into the green ocean water. The next day, I`d start renting a kayak or a stand up paddle in the Oleta River State Park, paddling to the sand bar and finishing with a picnic at the Oleta beach. I also like to rent a boat and explore the bay. There are many nice paths, from Key Biscayne to Fort Lauderdale. For those that like shopping, the Dolphin Mall and SawGrass Mill are the best options. I also like to visit the Brickell area. You can take an electric scooter or the metromovemover to move around the area. I like to visit the gardens of the Philip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science and have a glass of wine in their restaurant, and finish the day off with a basketball game in the American Airlines Arena. Reserve one day to simply enjoy the beach and walk around the boardwalk in Hollywood. Plan to spend the whole day there and have a late lunch while listening to live music at one of the restaurants around the area.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
“When you’re surrounded by people who share a passionate commitment around a common purpose, anything is possible.” Howard Schultz There are many people that have positively influenced my career. I wouldn`t be me if I didn`t have the luck to be surrounded by good friends and excellent professionals. My first credit goes to my colleagues from the LEC Financial Compliance Committee, which is a great forum to discuss any Compliance and Risk related matters. I also want to nominate my friends and former coworkers, Ana Kalil, Rui Alves, Ian Cook, Susana Cabalero, Ruben Santiago, and Ricardo Dollinger, all of them are brilliant professionals and played a very important role in my professional life.
