We had the good fortune of connecting with Sandra Molina and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sandra, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
As a little girl I always loved the idea of looking and feeling my best. My mother gave me the independence to dress myself, so taking time to pick out what I was going to wear was freeing and fun. The moment I would put on any outfit I worked hard curating I knew I was going to have a good day, hoping others felt the same in their clothes. As time went by I grew to understand the meaning of confidence and how fashion and style played a really big part in that. My mind was made up! Even though I was in high school at the time I knew I wanted to be someone who helped people feel good, and speak without words through their appearance. I attended College and received a Bachelors in Fashion Design and Production. Followed by a move to South Florida, a few years and job experiences later I received a Masters in Business Administration. In 2015 while in between jobs I married the two degrees I had and launched VIP Style Company, providing clients exclusive image and lifestyles services. I was at a point in my life where I was living out my childhood fantasy, not wondering how people felt in their clothes anymore but rather being a part of them looking and feeling their best too.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
As a Personal Stylist I am an artist and my clients are my canvases. Based on their personal style goals I curate looks from their existing and/or new wardrobes based on their lifestyle, whether current or changing. The styling experience I provide encourages my clients to want to get dressed and be their best selves. Who doesn’t want that?! Though my opinion is a call, text or email away, clients pickup valuable lessons on how to better shop to save them sanity, time and money when we work together. They also receive eLookBooks at the end of our time together with recommendations, suggestions, shopping lists and images of complete looks so they can get dressed for any and all occasions effortlessly. Equipped with this exclusive experience clients receive shopping and fashion knowledge, a great new wardrobe as well as style inspirations, thus giving them confidence knowing they look as good as they feel.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
When family and friends are visiting from out of town I like to take them to places they won’t forget easily. Since I do a lot of shopping I’ve found some cool spots to eat and then shop off the calories. We would probably start by visiting the Miami Design District where there is a variety of great retail stores to shop from as well as great restaurants like Pura Vida where they serve many delicious things that can be eaten any time of day like breakfast. Yum Yum!!! Swan is another great chic option with modern dishes and delicious drinks. The upstairs bar is a fun time. Midtown is a stone throw away and has great options too. Like lunch at Carrot Express where they serve healthy food choices, to dinner at Sugarcane where they serve small plate style, perfect for sharing. If you choose to of course. Neighboring Bayside is another choice if you want to take in outdoor shopping and dining or spend a day out on the water. So many wonderful options, but great places to start.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My mother was a big influence in the start of my love affair with fashion. Watching her enjoy her wardrobe as a little girl and seeing the transformation of her demeanor once her looks were complete made me want to feel the same. Playing dress up was fun, getting to pick out my own outfits was great, but it wasn’t enough. My desire to one day work in fashion was born. I studied fashion and business and now I am blessed to do what I love. That is to make my clients look and feel like the VIP (Very Important Person) they are. My mother always encouraged me along the way and for that I am grateful and dedicate my shoutout to her.
