We had the good fortune of connecting with Santiago Lattanzio and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Santiago, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I saw the decision to start my own business as an opportunity to learn, absorb and understand the challenges small companies and entrepreneurial ventures face. After working as an employee for 10 years, I realized how specialized and focused positions are within corporations, leading individuals to remain disconnected from other jobs and functions. In my company, I am the accounting, finance, shipping, marketing, and logistics department; I have to wear all the hats, and this exposure to other functions was the experience I was looking for as I enjoy the learning opportunity, and because it would make me a better team member if I decided to go back into the corporate world. When you start your own business, every decision and experience is an opportunity for you to learn and grow, and there has not been a single day when I am not learning something new.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Amaroq LLC opened in 2020, launching two initial brands, Master Alchemyst and Cafe Burdet, with the goal of introducing high quality coffee products into the United States. Our goal is to show coffee customers and lovers what makes a good cup of coffee. Our journey begins with carefully selecting and sourcing the coffee beans to ensure only the best crops from each country make it into our roasters. Our staff’s 30+ years of experience, knowledge, and passion culminate in an ever-evolving roasting process, one which aims to bring our customers consistent, great tasting coffee in every cup, every time.
In order to keep our products fresh and long lasting, we apply strict quality controls, and pack our coffee in thick, durable bags, designed to block out sunlight, maintain an air-tight seal, and equipped with a one-way valve to release trapped CO2 inside the bag. Our specialty products receive an additional layer of protection from heat and sunlight by being packaged in a thick, tamper-proof box in additional to the sealed bags. This allows for our coffee to remain fresh and last longer as well as give it a beautiful/glamorous appeal to match the quality of the coffee packaged inside.
The colors, uniqueness and intricacies of the design make this coffee the perfect choice for you to enjoy, or to gift to your loved ones!

Getting our brand known has been tough, but we believe in our products and we are sure that the coffee aficionados that love a medium roast with low bitterness will fall in love with our coffee for years to come.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
It depends specifically which area of south Florida you are visiting. If you are visiting the Palm Beach area, I definitely recommend the Morikami Japanese Gardens for a beautiful blend of nature and culture. If you are looking for shoppes, restaurants and more activity, City Place is a wonderful destination and beautiful both during the day and night. Lets not forget the beach! Head over to Delray Beach or Singer Island for calm ambiance and pristine waters.
If a faster pace and more up-beat feels more like you, head to Miami for the classic South Florida experience. Enjoy the SoBe surf, spend the day in the water, then dress up to have a delicious gourmet flatbread and a glass of wine at “Call me Gaby” in the southern part of South Beach. Just a few feet further south, grab an ice cream at South Pointe and relax while enjoying the view of the cruise ships coming out of the inter-coastal.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to reserve this shout-out for my father, Carlos Lattanzio. He started his own company 40 years ago, and is the inspiration behind starting my own business. His guidance, wisdom and love has been invaluable.
