We had the good fortune of connecting with Sarah Plasencia and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sarah, what inspires you?
I am inspired by travel, culture, history, art and nature. There are some many wonderful sights to see, here within Miami and the surrounding areas. I pride myself on being a Miami local blogger. I regularly write and take lots of photographs about places to see, especially if they are artsy, quirky, off the beaten track, new, historical and also nature driven. I find all the hidden spots! I am literally a walking tour guide. I am also a Yelp elite and love to blog and share my experiences with everyone. Travel is huge for me, it definitely feeds my soul. Is there anything more beautiful than what Mother Earth has to offer? I am passionate about travel and seeing as many wonderful sights as I can. I think my artistic eye comes from that. Art is everywhere, basically everything that you can see and then it evokes a feeling inside you, whatever it is. My ambition is to visit as many places and countries as possible.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally? I do commissioned art. I love to do pet portraits, as I am a huge animal lover. In my time I have saved 25 plus puppies from euthanasia. I also saved over 75 plus neo natal kittens during the pandemic. This was round the clock care, bottle feeding every few hrs. I believe that art is an appreciation of everything around us. I love to paint pets as the painting always mean so much to the pet owners. I aim to capture their essence. I am happy to draw or paint in any genre, be it pencil, watercolor, acrylics or oils. I am also happy to paint anything and everything. I also like to use different styles of art, such as a traditional style, line art and abstract. I also love to paint nudes. I don’t like to define myself by just painting in one genre. I like to be eclectic and go with the flow. I am also busy with my blogging and lifestyle evaluations that I do around Miami. I am also a part time high profile nanny, so I am involved in nurturing babies, toddlers and children. I am a pre k teacher as well.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I am English born and bred. I used to live in the famous Roman city of Bath in England. From there I emigrated to Munich, Germany. I then emigrated AGAIN, and now reside in Miami, U.S.A. I am a natural tour guide by nature, always researching and finding the hidden spots. I regularly blog about my Miami findings. I am a Yelp Elite and happily share my experiences.

Day 1 – I would whisk my visitors to South beach. This would entail showing them the art deco buildings and vibe of Miami, hopefully we would see some classic cars along the way. I would show them the Versace house. We would stroll down Espanola way for a slice of Spain. We would then probably have an authentic Cuban sandwich at Havana 1957. From there we would walk towards South Pointe Park, have a quick beach pit stop and watch then watch the humongous cruise ships glide by. For our evening meal we would have stone crabs and wear the customary bib at the iconic Joes Stone crabs.

Day 2 – Wynwood – I would drive my guests around Wynwood in the comfort of my car, with the luxury of air con, taking my guests on an ever-changing art inspired tour. They would get to see hundreds of fabulous murals by famous artists as well as the local artists. Dining would be interesting bite sized, but with a punch street tacos at Bartaco, with their amazing cocktails all with freshly squeezed fruits.

Day 3 – Coral Gables, “The city beautiful”. We would visit the beautiful and historical Biltmore hotel. We would dine in their outside restaurant and have the fabulous chicken club sandwich overlooking their huge swimming pool. I would also show them the Venetian swimming pool. Evening cuisine would be Italian, at Zucca inside the recently renovated St Michael hotel.

Day 4 – Coconut Grove. A visit would surely include lunch at Chugs diner to savor their Cuban inspired fayre. An evening would be spent savoring some Duck inspired dishes at the Ariete, a Michelin starred restaurant.

Day 5 – I would tantalize my guests with an old-style Floridian day trip to a quieter region – and visit the understated old fashioned dated Hollywood beach. We would base ourselves beach side with a huge umbrella, and one of my picnics and laze until the sun went down. From there I would take them to Le tub, for intercoastal views, huge burgers, great cocktails and an eclectic evening amongst toilets and tubs!

Day 6 – My guests would now be propelled on a Designer shoppers paradise, maybe to look but not buy! Street after street of Architectual modern shop fronts, and prices to make your eyes water. I would surely take them for Adult alcohol infused ice-cream to cool off at Aubi & Ramsa.

Day 7 – I would show them all the high rises and work ethic of Brickell. I would introduce them to one of Miami’s insane restrooms! Sexy Fish, the food is good BUT let it be known there is a permanent female staff member situated in the restrooms to take those insta photos. I would also take them to see the wondrous architectural feat of The Brickell City Centre and glorious shops, and if I have worn them out sufficiently, I would gladly take them to the cinema therefor a movie.

Day 8 – I am adding an additional day, as until that plane takes off, we can squeeze a few more hours in. Key Biscayne is a sublime quiet respirate. There is a hidden sandbar, shallow, quiet and at one with nature. This would be THE spot, until I am forced to deliver skid style and curb style to Miami airport.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My artistic vibes come naturally to me. I have always just been able to draw and paint. I have had no tutoring or formal training. I am completely self taught. This must run in my family gene pool, as my Father who is a retired civil engineer can paint and draw. My Environmentalist brother who owns his own company in England, is also a good painter.
