We had the good fortune of connecting with Sarah White and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sarah, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
There is no reward without risk… its one of my favourite quotes to people and is one I stand by you do not get lucky you get busy… business will always have an element of risk, but properly weighed up against hard work, research and dedication there are ways in which to minimise it. You should never go into any new venture blind and you should always do you due diligence. But most importantly you have to be brave in business or you will not succeed and it isn’t for the faint of heart because things can change rapidly at times and very often a lot of it is out of our control to a certain extend. The best way to achieve the most amount of control is to minimise the risks as much as possible. This means spending a lot of time working on your business and understanding the industry that you are in. Make sure you surround yourself with educated people in the area that you are focusing on, and are always open to new learning opportunities and this will at least give you some of a heads up if things may change that are beyond your immediate business plan. If I hadn’t taken a risk at the age of 30 I would never have gone back to university, I wouldn’t of followed my dream of being an interior designer for over a decade and then in turn it wouldn’t of opened up a whole new world of travel to me which is how I have opened my second business as a luxury travel consultant. Both opportunities have allowed me to work my career which I love around raising my daughter, taking time off when I needed and providing a life for her where she gets to see the world but also seeing what life outside of a class room can offer you. We would have been stuck in a repetitive 9-5 routine, working paycheque to paycheque with her in childcare more than she was at home… and the pressure of the grind for someone else’s benefits. If I hadn’t of taken that risk I wouldn’t have the life I have now for which I am eternally grateful that I am someone who is prepared to add a little risk to my life in order to get what I want from it.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I have recently launched my second business in the Luxury Travel Sector, following the covid crisis. People thought I was a little mad at the time considering that all travel was grounded for quite a while, but the comeback is always greater than the set back I reminded them. I have always had an interest in design since I was a teenager but the industry has really struggled the las couple of years.. however through this I have managed to see many amazing destinations around the world and visit some amazing hotels and places. I am great a booking a deal for myself so when I saw the word=ld I was working in was changing i had already started looking at my options of what else do I love to do that I can make money from that other people love too and it was really a no brainer that travel was my other big life passion. I had researched what it took to open your own travel agency and there are many different avenues and options… then one day an opportunity presented itself at the right time and I bought my licences and opened my own agency. My brand was born out of what my niche is, which is the world I know which is high end luxury architecture. Why not bring this to as many people as possible and show them the world I love to explore too. Having already having a high end client base, recommendations on my research skills and work ethic was a pretty simple switch over. There will always be lessons, and the training to learn a complete new industry is intense… but totally worth it. I mean who doesn’t like looking at where to go on holiday next. The best part is making even more connections and contacts and new friends which I would never have encountered if i hadn’t decided to make the change.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Well I am located around 30mins from London, so this is always an easy pit stop for lots to do in a small geographical really easily. However a week in London can be a bit intense so I would suggest a few days there catching up on the south bank, followed by a walk through China Town and drinks in Soho as there is always something to see. I would book for us to stay in the Sea Containers as it is a brilliant hotel overlooking the river and we can talk a walk down to the Millenium Wheel and London Dungeons easily. Followed by a little shopping trip around Covent Garden and some sushi out on the terraces watching the street performers. I would then escape the hustle and bustle and escape to the country side for a few days to rest and recover. I recently visited an amazing hotel newly opened in Windsor called the Fairmont Windsor Park where they have full spa and gym facilities for a few days eating and relaxing with extensive grounds to explore outside of the hotel. It is an easy trip from here into Windsor by car and a walk around the castle to take in some history and royalty, followed by exploring the area, walks along the river and plenty of places to eat, drink and refresh before returning to the comfort of the hotel for the end of our trip.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to shout out to my friends… cheesy as it sounds I wouldn’t be where I am today without their continued love and support and encouragement to push myself and reminding me on the days when things don’t work out or go to plan that I have all the solutions I need and to just try again… without their gentle words and sometimes tough love I would of not had as much faith in myself as I do today, that if I put my mind to something I can make it happen
