Meet Sashauna | Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Sashauna and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sashauna, what do you attribute your success to?
First, I wanna say that I haven’t reached the final stage of my success but each goal that I set for myself and accomplish is a mini success within itself and a step closer to where I want to be. The most important factor to accomplishing these mini goals is sticking to your vision. If you’re planning a launch, promo, music video or album it is important to stick with the vision you are most passionate about, essentially the one you’ve been visualizing for months. Don’t be afraid if it’s too outlandish or what the audience may think because once you start making changes to appeal to others, it takes away a little bit of you from within the project. There will always be people who don’t like what you create but there will always be people who do like it, and support. So, in a nutshell always stay true to your vision because someone is going to like it, and whoever doesn’t… f*ck em.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a singer songwriter based in Orlando, FL. I don’t think my music fits into one genre but if I had to pick, I would say I create alternative R&B music. What really sets me apart from others would be the harmonies I create. It is my favorite part about creating a song and to be honest, it takes the longest. Whenever I put together harmonies there is a particular image in my head and I use these harmonies to create an image. On my latest EP Kismet, each track has a different image that I created which ranges from heartbreak to self empowerment. Out of all the music I’ve created, I would say that Kismet is what I’m most proud of. I put some of the biggest milestones I went through within the last 2 years and every time I go back to listen to it, it is a reminder that everything that occurred was fate (aka) Kismet. Throughout the years I’ve learned that it is so important to put yourself out there and face your fears. That if you are afraid of doing something, then you definitely have to do it. I also realized that you have to believe in yourself because if you are unable to believe in yourself, who else will? It’s easier said than done but how I really push through is thinking when i’m older would I want to live with doubts and regrets. I make music as a way to express myself but I also make music so people don’t feel alone. I want people to able to play my music when they want someone to relate too or to help them experience their own emotions.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
To eat, I would take my best friend to Brick and Spoon for brunch and probably hit the springs or beach if the weather is nice with some Pub subs. For night time affairs I would check to see if there are any open mics, music shows or pop up events from different artist in town. If we wanna go listen to music and dance probably go to Ann Teagues or see if Orlando House Party is throwing an event.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There’s so many people that have hands in where I am today, whether it is being my inspiration, providing support and love or helping my vision and goals come to life. First and fore most I have to say thank you to my parents and siblings who have always supported me and lended me their ear whether to vent or listen to my music. Thank you to my friends for always pushing me and always uplifting me whenever I feel stuck or down. Thank you to Noah and Julian for being hands on and producing and engineering for me. Thank you to Aiysha, Joel and Stilo for helping me bring my visions to life. Love you all! and wouldn’t know where I would be without you guys. Special thank you goes out to any person that has inspired me or gave me wisdom to change my outlook on life and my craft.
