We had the good fortune of connecting with Sean De La Nuez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sean, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
Since I was a young boy I always went out of my way to make home videos or parodies of the movies that were current at the time. When I got to High School I joined TV production and once I knew the ropes, I knew it was something I wanted to pursue. My love for films started because of my father who would take me and my younger brother to the movies every week. He would by the latest movies out on VHS or DVD or Bluray, now streaming, etc, and we would talk about what worked and what didn’t and why. When I started working on Thesis projects in College I knew there was nothing else I wanted to do in life but storytell.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I think what sets me apart from others is the amount of love and passion I have for film and how it’s always been a part of my life, yet still feels so far away as there is still so much to do, and I can’t wait! It definitely wasn’t easy getting to where I am or what I know today but with study and dedication I was able to apply myself to have the tools I needed to pursue my dream. There has been many lessons over the years but with true dedication you can always overcome any obstacle thrown your way, it makes you sharper and ready for when you are in the “battlefield”.
I want to leave behind modern classics that people would be able to enjoy for many years.
I want to awe kids and adults alike when they see and feel the stories I can tell.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would probably start out with the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Ft. Lauderdale. Its one of the most iconic places in the world to be right now because the hotel is shaped like a giant glass guitar. Inside is beautiful and there are a few places there and near to grab a bite to eat and drink. Next there is the Hollywood strip nearby and I would enjoy the beaches there along with the boardwalk filled with restaurants and live music.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My entire family and friends have always showed me nothing but support over the years. Thinking back there is one Director I looked up to for a long time, Steven Spielberg. Like many of us, we watched his films growing up. But it was the creativity level that he brought to the world that got to me the most. Coming up with new IP and making them instant classics was my goal in life from then on. Another group I would have to thank in my story are the comic creators. From DC to Marvel, comics have evolved to something much bigger than anyone had ever thought. When I was younger it was difficult to find someone that wanted to talk about Batman and not the local sports team. But as time passed, creativity grew and so did the fanbase. What that did to me was give me more confidence and to be more of a risk-taker.
