8We had the good fortune of connecting with Sean Harvey and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sean, maybe we can start at the very start – the idea – how did you come up with the idea for your business?
The idea came about naturally. I was working on a local TV show and would always see classics cars being used on set, since it was a period piece.

Having a large family collection of classic cars, I realized that I could fill a niche gap in the industry. I started off by using my vehicles for production, film, and events, and then slowly started to incorporate vehicles from friends and local car aficionados.

It quickly grew and the rest is history. Now my company is the most trusted and largest vintage car rental business throughout South Florida.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I founded Miami Vintage Prop Cars, a classic car rental service for photo, film, and events. We have the largest collection and variety of classics in South Florida, specializing in vehicles from the 1930s to 2000s.

We help clients find the perfect choice for their project. Some productions can be very specific or have special needs (like a corporate event needing 30+ cars and drivers), so we step in to help source the vehicles.

It took over a decade to get to where I am. Not only have I invested in many cars over the years, but I’ve also networked and built relationships within the car community to ensure that we have the largest selection in South Florida.

Miami may be a big city but it feels like a small town, and everyone knows each other. Throughout the years, I’ve been fortunate enough to build a trusted group of contractors and clients. Trust and reliability is everything.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I usually recommend Wynwood or Design District as “must visit” areas. Wynwood is such a unique spot with incredible murals and great people watching. One of my favorite things to do is take one of classic cars for a drive around the Wynwood Brewery area and see the new murals or watch artists in the middle of their work. I also like cruising through the Design District and stopping at Michael’s Genuine for a bite. Plus, both are great spots for a photoshoot or video, so we’re there frequently.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d like to recognize my father, Frank Harvey. He is a big car guy from the very beginning, and started an amazing classic car collection. As a kid, I’ll never forget all the fun rides in the different cars–from a classic Mercedes to an Acura NSX. He is the reason why I love of classic cars. Also, a shout out to my Doberman baby Bodhi, who is always down to be a passenger.
