We had the good fortune of connecting with SHAH33D and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi SHAH33D, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Risk taking is apart of life in my opinion. I like to call it educated risks not impulsive risks such as gambling. When you’re unhappy with your current situation or lifestyle you begin looking for something that excites you. Being that we live in a Society that accepts the construct of working a 9-5 job as a way to live, investing in self is considered high risk due to uncertainty. Taking educated risks is how I became the person I am today. Not being afraid to push boundaries of traditional thinking and not afraid to live my dreams of creating music. I worked many jobs in life but never longer than a year unless I was under contract because i did not want to be stuck in the blue collar/white collar structure. I’m not where I want to be yet but I’m further than where I use to be and the journey is the best part.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My art and style of music is created from things I’ve personally seen or interpreted through the stories of others. I’ve been told that if I could sum up my music in two words it would be considered “Lyrical trap.” I didn’t understand that at first but it does make sense. Lyrical meaning I tell stories using unique wordplay that mesh well with heavy percussion beats with 808’s. I’m proud to be an independent artist who has free autonomy to reach my fans and supporters directly, rather than going through a third party such as record label. Being apart of a record label is modern day slavery where the company makes more money than the artist if the contract is not set up correctly. It was not easy to get to where I am now but the journey has been rewarding. Along the way I’ve learned that anything you want for your business or brand you can have it. With so many available resources in the world today we can take advantage of many opportunities to reach higher goals. For example, if you need a website you can learn to build it, if you need beats, you can make one etc. There are some things you have to outsource to someone who specialize in an area but overall we can create our own success with the resources we have available. One thing i want the world to know about my brand is that it’s 100% genuine. I stand behind anything I advertise or endorse.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Orlando is a fun place outside of Disney. I like to hang in the downtown area where the nightlife is set. A bunch of restaurants so I don’t really have a favorite. When friends come in town we always go downtown.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First off I have to shout out my Cuban brother from another mother, Noel Mirabal. We served in the United States Coast Guard on active duty. We bonded through mutual interests of gaming and martial arts. We both came to the conclusion that we would not be able to live our dreams of being successful while remaining on active duty. My desire to create music for the world to hear and his desire to be world renowned actor would never come to be in the military. We always push each other to take advantage of many opportunities that will help advance our careers in the creative realm.
