We had the good fortune of connecting with Shari Sanchez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Shari, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
During this past year I can definitely say there has been a drastic change in my work/life balance. The Keto Kitchen Miami acquired a storefront location during Covid. I decided to not only remodel the place but do a lot of the handy man work on my own. The remodeling of the new location and running the business was like having 2 full time jobs. Fast forward to our opening in mid- February and I can honestly say I have not had a day off since January. I have a goal and I am so focused right now that working 12-16 hour days doesn’t faze me right now. Sure I would love to live a little- but as of right now, I feel like I need to dedicate all the time I have to my “Baby”.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
It all started when I wanted to lose weight. I would post pictures of my food online and someone mentioned how they wish I could cook for them. I started The Keto Kitchen Miami in January 2019. We grew pretty fast and I had to learn through trail and error. I have cooked, cleaned, delivered, you name it – I’ve done it. I guess maybe having something that actually belonged to me, something that I was actually passionate about is what gave me the urge to do whatever it takes to make it work. I have had countless sleepless nights, no days off, had to figure out how to be a great mom at the same time. Although it hasn’t been pretty at times, I have managed to make it work.. It’s like I cant give up or throw in the towel. I really don’t care how hard it can get. To me, I signed up for this- what I get out of it is what I put in it.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Hmmm. That’s a great question. I am more of a “go with the flow” type of girl. I feel like my best days out are those that were unplanned. I would say a massage at a spa will definitely be on the list. Perhaps, a nice day at the pool at whatever hotel in Miami Beach with some drinks and food. A Glam Day where we do our hair, nails, toes and makeup. Visit some new restaurants with a great scenery or ambiance. Maybe add a Shopping Spree at Dadeland Mall. I love outdoor activities, so a day or two on the water on a boat in the middle of nowhere sounds so relaxing!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
A very special shout out goes to my children. I have 3 gorgeous kids and they are the ones who give me the strength I need to make this all work. No one knows the struggle more than they do. We are a team and without them none of this would be possible. They are my only motivation, what keeps me going like a robot – even though I am exhausted at times. I want to make a positive impact in their lives and leave them something for the future. My amazing staff that pulls in hours in the kitchen and that has been by my side through thick and thin. They deserve a round of applause because we have been faced with many obstacles and together we have been able to pull through. Last but not least, everyone who has believed in me and my product. Clients, friends and family who show an abundance amount of support- it never goes unnoticed.
