We had the good fortune of connecting with Sharniece Jamison and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sharniece, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
During the pandemic I had nothing but time. I was so inspired by all of the frontline workers who made such a huge impact. It made me think of my grandmother who couldn’t leave her house and all the other people who were affected and how most of those people we’re probably alone. It made decide to go back to school and start my own personal care agency.

What should our readers know about your business?
I own and operate a family owned home care agency. We assist our clients with non medical daily activities including housekeeping, errands, cooking, medication reminders etc. I’m proud to be able to serve people who need it most during this hard time. It wasn’t easy because I already have a full time and I blog when I can. Staying up until 2:30am to finish an exam to only have to get up at 8am to log into my 9-5 was rough. It still isn’t over. I want to offer skilled nursing services in the future and currently still in school to obtain my license in nursing. I think what sets my agency aside from the rest is my company is family owned. Each client will be treated like family and not another number. Family values will always be a priority and the goal is to get all of our home health aides vaccinated for Covid-19. We will always put clients first. One main lesson I’ve learned so far is nursing is hard. No matter the level. It’s a lot of information to retain.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
When my friends visit I always like to start the day off with brunch at Victory, Bacon Bitch or Just Spoons. Unlimited mimosas are always the answer. After we eat we would get hotel amenity passes at a hotel on the beach and enjoy the beach and hotel pool amenities. We would have dinner at Red Rooster, Bar One, or Komodo. We would end the night at 1-800-Lucky, a Social Xchange event or BLee Party. I think if you want to enjoy South Florida you should definitely look into day activities like ATVing, candle making, kayaking, jet skiing, helicopter tours. The areas that are a must visit are Wynwood, Overtown Historic Art Museum and Miami Design District. There’s so much to see and do there. South Florida is so much more than just the beach.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Shout out to Shaun Curry from Twispod & Kizzy Blan for being available to help me with any questions I had at no cost. They both offered to assist me in anyway that they could. Black women supporting other black women is so important.
