We had the good fortune of connecting with Shayla Jones and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Shayla, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
The thought process behind starting our own event decor/balloon decor business, was that we are creative minds and we wanted to explore or shall I say dive in more into our creative side. At all the family events and parties my mother and I were the decorators. My mother is a hustler lol, she has multiple businesses. But she saw something in me that I didn’t focus on myself, and she brought me alone to start A little bit of this, A little bit of that LLC. We literally are talented and offer a little bit of this and that.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’ve accumulated two degrees over the years, a bachelors in biology and a doctorate of pharmacy. When I graduated from pharmacy school I took a break because I was expecting my bundle of joy., Ace Young. My career didn’t take off like I expected, so I tapped into my creative side when my mother introduced me to the balloon decor business. I fell in love with arranging balloons for events and later started decorating the whole event. And it just makes me so ecstatic to see my clients excited and wowed by our expertise. I’ve had free time to focus on my craft a sim ready to take it to the next level.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Hey best friend!! We would definitely stay at the guitar hotel because it’s a new vibe. We would hit the beach because it’s miami, duh and shop at the shops on the strip. We would go to the design district and take plenty of selfies by the amazing art. We would go eat at Sundays Eatery of course because Trick Daddy is family and those fried ribs be hittin, with the blue lemonade on the side. We would find a nice hookah bar with a great vibe and catch up.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My mother, Eugia Cannon gets all the glory. She is truly a go getter. She owns multiple businesses in the Atlanta area (Carol’s Daughter Learning Center, Achievers Academy abs Sign Dreamers of Palmetto/Chattahoochee Hills). And together we have A little bit of this, A little bit of that LLC. My mother recognized talent in me that I could not see. She started the LLC process before even knowing what we would focus on. But in the end we decided to take offer a little of this and a little of that.
