Meet Sherjuana Carr | Minister, Author and Business Owner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Sherjuana Carr and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sherjuana, what do you want your legacy to be?
This question is a loaded one. It puts me in the mindset of a show I was watching one day, and the character was in therapy and the therapist asked her what are you afraid of” She said that when I die, I won’t be missed”. And that moment I thought about that I said God I want my legacy when I leave this earth to be that I did exactly what you ordained me to-do before the foundation of the world! I know that God has called me to impact the world though love kindness and service. I am here to be of service to others, my family and women in particular. I am a woman and I understand the dynamics of a women, we’re diverse, were complicated. Women are made up of love, pain, and passion. I want people to say she was someone who served others with a purity of heart. She loved fiercely, she gave generously, and she impacted everyone she touched with the love of Christ!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Professionally I have worked in the area of healthcare for over 20 years currently I am a Utilization manager for a Substance Abuse agency. This particular position is most rewarding because helping others overcome substance abuse in any capacity is essential. Serving as a minister in my community and church gives me great joy! I love people, plain and simple, because we’re all flawed individuals making our way through a world full of ups and downs because life happens! I believe we’re all born with a gigantic hole in our hearts that can only be filled by GOD! Helping others find their way to personal relationship with Him, helping them to heal from past traumas, low self-esteem, and anger and hurt is truly my purpose! I take my purpose that includes mentoring and counseling of women seriously because I understand how important it is to have someone in your corner you can depend on upon in some of your darkest moments.
I just recently launched my business SherjuanaDenise for ShesChicDesign.com. “Where we Embrace Style & Grace”
I have always had a love for fashion. This line allows me to continue to serve in a way that promotes and celebrates the beauty of women inside and out.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
There are so many things to do and see here in Florida. There is never a dull moment here in Fort Lauderdale/Miami area. It’s hard narrow down a spot but if I had a week to entertain someone, I would take them to a few places. Holly Blue in Fort Lauderdale if you want nice atmosphere food etc. if you’re looking for brunch style menu. I’m very low key so place like Tealiocus in Delray Beach beautiful tearoom in Delray Beach where they have the best teas and other refreshments atmosphere is dainty and relaxing! For a night on town, I would suggest, Burtons Bar& Grill in Boca Raton great ambiance and food is executional. I love fashion so I would definitely take someone to Bel-Harbor shops in Miami Beach or even City Place in Doral.
