We had the good fortune of connecting with Sionán and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sionán, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I decided to pursue styling and a career in fashion because I felt like it combined a lot of my passions and skills. Styling is a career that combines an artistic and creative mindset as well as strong business acumen. It is a job that is challenging but super rewarding and that feeling is something I really aspired to have in my work

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
As an artist I strive to make work that is eye catching, vibrant and intense in shape and energy. Color and texture is hugely important to me in telling a visual story and I think my work is recognizable because of that!

my creative and professional journey is constantly growing and evolving. I feel like I’m never done learning. I have made a lot of progress in terms of the caliber of work I am producing which I am very happy about. Every project teaches me something new about myself and my art and for that, I am so grateful.

I would want the world to know that for me as an artist, enjoyment of your work is of utmost importance. Fashion can be so serious and snobby and I am not about that energy! Being kind and collaborative in the industry makes it a better place for all involved. Gatekeeping does not get you friends or get you far. So put people on whenever you can and have fun in the process.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
NYC is my favorite city in the world because it is my home and also because you can NEVER be bored here! Asides from all the cultural treats,

If a friend visited me here, my main focus would be eating drinking and being merry- if you’ve been to NYC, you already know!

Some of my favorite places to eat solo or with friends: Lighthouse in Williamsburg coz they change their menu all the time, Leitao in west village for Portuguese inspired food and amazing wine, Kings County Imperial for delicious Chinese food in LES/Williamsburg, and Shuka in Soho for middle eastern style.
a lot of the above are places you can sit outside/at the bar and people watch which is always a plus.

Being merry would also include going out to bars and clubs like Buntons World Famous in Bushwick, Knockdown Center or Nowadays, both in Ridgewood, Queens. Even better is hanging out at someone’s rooftop or backyard!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would not be growing in this world without the support of the creatives and designers who I work with. As a stylist, your relationships within the industry will make or break you and I am fortunate to work with some of the most talented artists in the game here in NYC.

I am most grateful to my husband Alex who supports my work in every way and keeps me sane when I get stressed no matter what
