We had the good fortune of connecting with Siuyi Jamail and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Siuyi, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Some of my friends reached out during the pandemic when everyone was at home without the possibility of going to a gym. They were concerned because they wanted to workout so I told them I could design a home workout plan and a meal plan for them. We created a whatsapp group and I guided them through the process. I was able to help them lose some pounds, and realized I could help other people too. At the moment I was just selling leggings as a side hustle, but decided I wanted to start a business where I could inspire busy women like myself to have a healthier lifestyle.
But I wanted to be different. I didn’t want to just sell a workout and meal plan program, because I had the experience of doing many of them, and will always get bored and abandon them. I wanted to teach them how to design their own healthy life with food and exercise they enjoy, so that they will never have to rely on buying a new program every time a new trend appears.
The idea is that people learn how to maintain a healthy body without feeling unhappy with restrictions.
People are afraid of food, mostly carbs, and believe they need hours of exercise to be fit. They typically make the mistake of following a diet trend without knowing their bodies. Also they usually just try to go on an extreme calorie deficit, that ends up being harmful to their bodies, and they don’t see the results they want.
The reality is that each body responds differently and it is necessary to learn to understand it so you can feed it with the right food and do the right amount of exercises that will work for you.
I believe I can make a difference in people’s life so they can be happier, for that reason I have not stopped trying and improving my business because all I want is to get my message out there so people can make better choices for their health and body.
We only get this life, and it is important to take risks and to try different things that can create a better impact.
Many people spend their life waiting for the perfect moment, to wear that dress, to buy that house, to have the baby… but time keeps going, so do not wait. And I don’t mean to get crazy and do things without thinking, all I am saying is have a goal and work for it, because the perfect moment is now.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I come from a family where you go to college, get a good career, get a stable job that helps pay the bills and then wait until retirement. And that is exactly what I did. But I felt that was not it, that was not my life purpose. Changing my mindset that I want to be my own boss and even have some people working for me has been hard to believe. I still have my 8 to 5 job, so it has been challenging to have time for both, my regular job and my business. But I have managed to create a team and make better plans toward my end goal which is being an entrepreneur. I definitely enjoy working on my biz, and coaching other people.
However, in order to make the change as an entrepreneur, I invested in myself and in my education to run a business. This was all new to me, but I know that we are all capable of so many things and that we should never stop learning. At the beginning I was trying to learn all by myself with free resources, but quickly realized that there was no reason to make it so hard when there are people that have gone before me and can guide me and get me there faster, the same way I can guide and help my clients.

I want to help women like me. I am just a regular busy mom that works full time, goes to her kids’ activities, cooks, cleans the house and loves to enjoy life! I am not special, I am not a model, I am not perfect, I am actually still working on my dream body. I have gone through the same things many women have gone through and I understand them. I share my fitness journey, what has worked for me and what has not worked too so they do not make the same mistakes. I am here to teach them so they can take control of their fitness and also believe that is possible.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I think a visit to the lake, or the beach is always fun. I also like walking in small historical towns with local shops! After a busy day I love to relax sitting on the outside patio of a great restaurant with some drinks, amazing food and live music.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My shoutout will definitely go to my lovely husband JJ. He has been there supporting me the whole time even though he has no idea why exactly I spend so much time on my computer. He just knows that this is something I want to do and he supports me the best he can. He is my biggest fan and he is so proud of how far I have come with my business. Many times we talk and I tell him all about my plan and what I am doing now and he always praises all the effort and discipline that I have taken with this dream.
