We had the good fortune of connecting with Sky Janga and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sky, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I felt that with all the work experience I’ve had over the years, it would best suit me as a business owner if I took my prior knowledge/skill set along the way as an entrepreneur. Whether it be known or not the jobs we secure or choose are experiences that will help you in the working world tremendously, it is all about how you retain it.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
The thing that I’ve figured out about myself as an artist that sets me apart from others is that I have a vision for creation in general. Doesn’t matter the field, if it needs to be created from scratch i’m the guy for the job. I’m able to recreate meals from scratch, recreate beats by ear, orchestrate meetings with other creatives with my ideas, and mimic some of the dopest in the music industry. Hands down, I can make beats keeping in mind the sounds heavy hitter artists, such as Lil Durk, Gunna, Lil Baby, DJ Khaled, and write the lyrics for any genre. I understand the music business and how to lucratively gain income from distribution. I get excited teaching and helping others who haven’t found a way to get themselves heard, or even teaching them helpful techniques to help them in their career as well. I wouldn’t be here today if it wasn’t for my honest generosity and tenacious attitude towards things. It’s never easy doing the things most don’t believe is possible and I didn’t expect it to be. The hard times made me into the business minded person I am now. Focusing on the outcome of things is how I manage to never give up, yeah of course there was a time where I doubted myself to the point of depression. I have lost a lot of friends along the way but I stay prayed up. God and my fiancé looked out for me and got me back on course. The most important lesson I can give is though you may not have the ability to change the things you seek to change, attempt to change the way you think about things that are looking to change and in that aspect you will be able to accept the things that are not changeable.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
First we’re going to the dispensary to grab some party favors. Then we definitely will have the munchies so that calls for a dollar store run for snacks. I like the Nekot sandwich cookies. Then, we stop by to visit my studio where most of the rappers and producers hang out. We meet them and have a few laughs and drinks. My friends stay over my place when in town, that way I can make sure they are well taken care of. I cook very well so most of the time my friends already know what they would like me to prepare for them. @chefjanga is my cooking page on IG. One day I would love to open a small restaurant or food truck. Future plans!!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Shout out to my fiancé for holding me down through all these years. She is the real G.O.A.T.
