We had the good fortune of connecting with Skyy Hinson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Skyy, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Everything in life requires risks. Waking up, going outside is a risk. However, sometimes, it’s not about the risk, it’s about how bad you want a different life. That same fear and procrastination that you’re allowing to control your life is the same risk that could change you.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
At the moment, I have 4 businesses: High Manetenance by Skyy Sade’, Struck by Skyy Sade’, Fresh 2 Death Apparel, and Haús of 10:29. With High Manetenance by Skyy Sade’ I sell lashes, phone/ AirPod cases, and face masks, with Struck by Skyy Sade’ I sell lip gloss, facial soap, and hair/skin oil, with Fresh 2 Death it’s an urban wear line, and with Haús of 10:29 I sell boutique clothes. I got to where I am now because I just never gave up. I always knew, even when I was younger, that I didn’t want to work for someone all of my life. So when I was in high school and started my first job, I used my money to start buying inventory and other supplies. Then when that started rolling, I started thinking of other things that interested me, and started it. One thing about me, I’m never scared to do multiple things, especially if it genuinely excites me and is a passion of mine. In life, people will try to project their fears onto you, because they feel that they can’t do something, so they tell you that you can’t ; but that couldn’t be the furthest from the truth. If 10 things are your passion and you can balance all 10, do it! God gave everyone a purpose… find yours!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love Longhorn steakhouse, Duffy’s, and restaurants like that. I’m not afraid to try new things as well.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to give a big thank you to Sarah Sanchez for thinking of me and giving me the opportunity to do this interview.
