We had the good fortune of connecting with Sofia Martiarena and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sofia, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Coming from an entrepreneurial family, I was exposed to the mindset of independence and the importance of working towards achieving my goals from a young age. Since I was young and living in Argentina, I always took part in the family businesses, from helping my dad with small administrative chores to managing a restaurant with 60 employees, all that instilled in me a drive to starting my own business, it always been something like a natural progression for me given my background and upbringing. One of the main reasons I moved to the United States about 8 years ago was to pursue the American dream. I was drawn to the opportunities and possibilities that this country offers, particularly in terms of entrepreneurship. We always saw it as a place where we could turn our family ambitions into reality and build a successful business.
I currently have two businesses. The first is a logistics company that I started in collaboration with my brother. It has been a rewarding and challenging venture that has allowed us to tap into the growing demand for efficient transportation and delivery services.
More recently, I ventured into the Airbnb business in Miami. I chose this particular city because I have been living here for all these years and have developed a deep appreciation for its vibrant culture, beautiful beaches, and thriving tourism industry. I wanted to create a space where visitors can have a comfortable and memorable experience, there’s always something new going on here! I believe that with hard work, dedication, and a commitment to providing excellent service, I can contribute to the local economy and help others enjoy the unique experiences that Miami has to offer.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
After being a resident of Miami for the past eight years, I developed an intimate familiarity with the city. I’ve had the pleasure of experiencing its vibrant daily life, bustling nightlife, and all the incredible things Miami has to offer. During this time, a dear friend of mine named Rachid, who is heavily involved in the Airbnb industry, convinced me that it was a wonderful investment opportunity. I embarked on this Airbnb venture not too long ago, driven by my passion for social exposure and creating lasting relationships. Just as with my logistics business, I take great pride in striving to make a positive impact on society through my endeavors. In the logistics industry, we transported food during the challenging times of the COVID-19 pandemic, which not only brought a sense of reward but also financial success. Now, with my Airbnb business, I aim to create a similar impact. I aspire to provide not just a place to stay but an unforgettable experience for my guests. Drawing from my experience in the hospitality industry, I’ve learned that people seek meaningful experiences and often return to places where they felt their best. It is precisely this sentiment that I aim to achieve with my apartments – not merely a vacation getaway but a personalized service where people can truly feel at home away from home.
Undoubtedly, my entrepreneurial journey has been a challenging one. At 27 years old, I’ve come to understand that a life of freedom also brings great responsibility. There have been times of hardship, stress, and sleepless nights. However, I firmly believe that these are the moments that push us to grow and prepare us for what lies ahead. Every situation in life presents an opportunity to learn and derive valuable lessons. While the process has been arduous and lengthy, the rewards are truly gratifying, particularly when you are pursuing what you are truly passionate about.
If there’s one piece of advice I could offer, it would be to encourage others to seize their ideas and dreams. Write them down, and don’t be afraid to share them with trusted individuals who can contribute positively to your projects. Surround yourself with people who uplift, empower, and inspire you to strive for more in life. The feeling of going to bed tired but fulfilled in knowing that you are making a difference is the greatest reward one can experience. Remember, even the smallest details matter, as long as you are engaged in something that makes your heart smile.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would start the day with a Pilates class at JetSet. Their high-intensity workouts will get your blood pumping and energize you for the day ahead. Afterward, treat us to a delightful breakfast at Paolo Fontanot, a true Italian bakery, they’ve got some mouthwatering pastries and one of the best freshly brewed coffee. For lunch, head to Mandolin, a charming restaurant that serves exquisite Mediterranean cuisine with a very nice atmosphere and the best flavors of authentic dishes.
As a fashion lover, a trip to the Design District is a must, to explore and stay updated on all the new fashion trends.
To continue with the fashion journey, I would then drive to Brickell City Centre. Browse through the stylish shops, specially ZARA!!! and do some retail therapy. For dinner, I would head to Casa Tua, where I specially recommend my favorite Frutti di Mare dish.
You can’t miss out on Miami’s stunning beaches, I always make my way to the W Hotel, where you can rent an umbrella for the day and enjoy their exceptional service. Get in the sun, take a dip in the crystal-clear waters, and let the beach vibes rejuvenate your soul and energy.
For a peaceful and lovely shopping experience, visit Bal Harbour Shops where you can explore the upscale boutiques and treat yourself to luxurious finds. And since Italian cuisine is my favorite, after a long beach day and shopping walk the best option is to satisfy cravings at Carpaccio, where you can have some authentic Italian dishes.
To end your Miami adventure on a high note, a night out at La Victoria is a must. Dance to the lively Latin music and immerse yourself in the fun energy while creating unforgettable memories.
Finally, for a delightful Sunday brunch experience, I strongly recommend going to Little Hen, and if you’re planning on doing so… book ahead cause it’s soo good that it is always booked!! A chic and girly restaurant. MUST TRY their famous rose pancakes.
The city is filled with exciting places to explore, no matter the day of the week, you can always have a blast discovering the best that Miami has to offer!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to my family, they have been an incredible support system throughout my life and have played a crucial role in shaping me into the person I am today. Their love, guidance, and unwavering belief in my abilities have been instrumental in my entrepreneurial pursuits. My mom, Giorgina deserves a special mention for being my coach and mentor. She has invested in her own personal growth and development by studying under renowned coaches like Tony Robbins. Her expertise and knowledge in mindset and personal development have been invaluable to me. She has always been there to provide the mental strength and encouragement that I need to overcome challenges and achieve my objectives, both in business and in personal areas of life. I am grateful for her dedication to our growth and success.
My dad, Andres, holds a special place in my heart for being a constant source of energy and mentorship. He has faced numerous challenges throughout his own life journey and has emerged with a powerful energy that empowers all of us every day. His resilience, wisdom, and positive attitude have had a profound impact on my entrepreneurial mindset. I attribute much of my drive and determination to his influence and his ability to lead by example.
Lastly, I want to acknowledge my brother, Joaquin. Despite being younger than me, he possesses a maturity and insight that I greatly admire. He has become not just a sibling but also a close friend whom I can rely on for advice and unwavering support. His presence in my life has been a constant reminder of the importance of having a strong support network and the power of unconditional love.
