We had the good fortune of connecting with Sofia Perez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sofia, what principle do you value most?
The most important value in my life is to be positively radiantly yourself. Growing up you can get caught up with trends and cliques, just wanting to feel like you fit in. Wanting to fit in sometimes can strip parts of yourself that are unique. Doing things by your rules with a good mindset can completely change the path your life is going on. You can never try to be someone and succeed because they are being themselves. Once you realize this and start to explore yourself it’s like if you, we’re underwater and finally came up for fresh air. Being yourself not only involves you. It’s also your friends, family and what you choose to have in your life. You’re the main character and everything in your life affects you. Good people and good energy are what it’s all about. Being yourself and content requires a relationship, time, and effort with yourself. Spending quality time figuring out your likes dislikes and truly discovering your happiness involving no one else but yourself. You’re alone most of your life, you take care of yourself at the end of the day when it comes down to. You’re your own best friend that takes care of yourself mentally and physically. The better you get, the better your opportunities in life get.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
So right now, I’m going to school and I’m double majoring in business and graphic designing my goal is to open my own clothing line and do graphic designing sort of freelance on the side. I work for a local Miami boutique called Nikkis Beach House. I am their e-commerce and graphic design manager and model. I’ve been working there for around four years but took up this new position around a year and a half two years ago. I handle their website, emails that aspect of the business. I also model I’m signed to Dollhouse agency here in Miami and I’m very happy and excited to see what comes. I also started my own podcast it’s called let’s take a trip. I wanted something to keep memories by and thought what would be better than a Podcast from yours truly. Not going to lie I’m still very young and have a lot to go, this is just the beginning. but along the way I learn more about myself and future adventures or things I want to accomplish. honestly through a lot of trial and error I am where I am and couldn’t be happier. everything I do in my life don’t get me wrong we have our days of negativity, but I genuinely love everything I do in my life. I’ve learned that you can control your life to a certain extent the rest of it you need to let go and let life take you on the little roller coaster I.t does. I feel like I’ve gone farther by just doing me and what I love and getting up every day instead of forcing myself or pushing myself to do it. I want everything I touch in life to have my twist I want everything I do to be very personal to me.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
One thing I love about Miami is that there’s so much to offer. From nightlife, beaches, cuisines this city is growing more and more every day. This is a little itinerary if you like to have a good time! First to start off you need a beach day. You can do south beach, ocean and 3rd is my favorite beach. I also love Virginia Key beach in Key Biscayne. It’s a more lowkey beach but its insanely beautiful with a great view of Fisher Island and Miami beach. Having a nice day soaking in the sun rays is a must in Miami. Even better if you can secure a boat day in your itinerary I highly recommend. Good music and drinks on the boat is an unbeatable day. This city has any type of food you can think of. Brickell, Miami Beach and Wynwood all have amazing restaurants. One of my favorite restaurants is Prime 112 in the beach. The lobster mac and cheese are to die for! Prime 112 also has Prime Fish, Prime Italian, and the Big Pink! Which is a great lunch place to refuel. Another great restaurant which just open is Key Club in the grove. Its Groot’s hospitality’s new spot and it’s killing it! The surf and turf roll with lobster and wagyu beef one of my new favorite dishes. My favorite going out spot is for sure Club Space. Within the last year and a half, I feel like Miami’s nightlife has been revamp to the max. I love EDM music so it’s the perfect spot with the biggest DJs coming every weekend. I for sure recommend staying for sunrise with a mimosa in your hand! A great spot for a drink and view is Rosa Sky in Brickell. This rooftop bar is the perfect Miami vibe you need on your trip. Amazing drinks, food, and environment you can’t beat it. You also can beat a great place for pictures for Instagram!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
For sure my friends and family are my biggest supporters. If I ever need a pick me up or a shoulder to cry on a have the best support system. My mom is my partner in crime and wouldn’t be here without her. She’s always two steps ahead, ready to take life on. My mother has always instilled in me from a young age to work hard. If its school, a job you want, a goal you want to achieve. Day in and day out you need to work to achieve what you want. Things don’t happen over night but putting the right energy and time into something it will come. I still have so much to experience and learn since I just only turned 20. I’m very lucky to have someone so supporting and loving by my side. The older i get the more i appreciate the childhood and the way i was raised. One day i cant wait to pass on what my mother gave to me to my own.
