We had the good fortune of connecting with Sonia Bailey and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sonia, how does your business help the community?
We are working to help the community heal from a wound that occurred more than four hundred years ago and has been transmitted through generations ever since. We believe that by assisting people who were adversely impacted by the trafficking and enslavement that happened back then, we can eliminate barriers between groups and improve social, health, economic and other wellness outcomes for the nation and the world.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Fire Forged Recovery is dedicated to assisting people, families and communities to recover from the effects of bias. I am excited about our work because we are focused inward instead of outward, devoted to helping people find inner balance, healing and peace for themselves and within their interactions with others. We intentionally step away from staying focused on the pain of past experiences, or seeking to have others cure or even acknowledge any part they may have had in adverse experiences.
We are making progress today from sheer ‘grit’– by staying in motion and refusing to give up during the most challenging times when getting participation in the journey was not easy. By refocusing on what is important to accomplish, we keep ourselves motivated and moving forward. We also strive to keep learning, working to absorb everything there is to know about the history we come from and the tools we’ll need on the road ahead.
A crucial lesson we’ve learned along the way is to stay focused on our unique tasks and, while supporting the work of others, not to get so distracted by that work that we abandon our own. We have found our own voice and we use it to further healing.
We want the world to know that everyone in the United States and everywhere in the world will benefit from the healing that we must achieve to access our maximum global human strength together.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
In South Florida, we must, of course show off the beautiful area by hanging out on the beaches, visiting the wonderful dream homes along the cost. A visit to this area would be incomplete without sampling the amazing selection of food and dining experiences that harvest the best of so many cultures that have settled here. We would visit the intercostal waterways, Wynwood Art District, Brickell, Little Havana, Little Haiti, South Beach and all of the beauty in the surrounding areas such as Fort Lauderdale and Hollywood beaches.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to give a shoutout to diverse communities locally and globally! The people who stand strong in their commitment to see the beauty and strength in individuals of all colors, ethnicities, sizes, shapes and personalities, and who seize the courage to love people because of who they are, inspire me daily. They are the vital salt of the earth, and our communities would be hopeless without them.
