We had the good fortune of connecting with Sophia Pav and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sophia, putting aside the decision to work for yourself, what other decisions were critical to your success?
As a creative entrepreneur, I made my mark in the New York photography scene from a young age. But it was my bold decision to hit the reset button and move to Florida that truly unleashed my business-building powers and opened up new opportunities.
Florida became my wake-up call, propelling me to hustle from scratch and discover my niche in the market. Networking became my sport as I crafted my own reputation, ensuring everyone knew my name and what I brought to the table.
With a decade of experience under my belt, I leveraged my expertise to turbocharge my growth and dominate the branding and editorial photography space. I didn’t limit myself to Florida alone, but expanded my reach worldwide, collaborating with renowned brands and earning features in prestigious publications.
Moving to Florida was a risk that paid off tremendously. It taught me the transformative potential of starting fresh and taking ownership of my success.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Most photography is a luxury, mine is an investment.
By understanding my clients’ target market, I have been able to produce imagery that speaks directly to their audience. I weave their brand story into the visuals, driving emotionally charged sales. The digital assets I deliver not only provide an elevated look for my clients’ online presence but also establish a recognizable style that fosters long-term brand awareness and builds trust. This is the ultimate goal my team and I strive for in every branding production.
Over the past decade, I have dedicated myself to building and perfecting my business while enhancing my client experience. During my undergraduate years at the Fashion Institute of Technology, I grappled with finding my niche. However, once I recognized my ability to tell compelling stories through my images, I discovered the true power of my work in the realm of personal and business branding.
I use my photos to tell your story. Your story connects with clients. That connection drives sales.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Although my primary residence is in up in West Palm Beach, I frequently make trips to Miami and I feel like there is always something new to do! I highly recommend experiencing the Brightline train if you haven’t had the opportunity—it’s a cool mode of transportation and makes the trip there way more comfortable and part of the experience. One of my go-to spots to visit is the Soho House offering the best beach chairs, pool access and a serene ambiance, ideal for catching up on work and networking with like minded people.
When it comes to dinner, one of my favorite places is Sugar rooftop ontop of the East Hotel in Brickell. One time, my friend and I literally ordered every item off the menu and left no crumbs or regrets.
I obviously have so much to try in Miami so I cannot wait for future trips down–It is too easy to get to from here!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
The decision to make the move wouldn’t have materialized if it weren’t for the unwavering support of my boyfriend, Andreas. As fellow entrepreneurs, we share a remarkable dynamic that continuously empowers and uplifts each other. Andreas has become an invaluable mentor, imparting essential lessons about business ownership that I may not have discovered on my own. You can find him on TikTok, sharing his wisdom and insights under the handle @Ivy_Roadmap.
