We had the good fortune of connecting with Sophie Faith and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sophie, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
After working in fashion for years in London and Miami, I gave it all up to get married and have babies. I was a stay at home mum for 13 years until I turned 40 and thought my kids are older, what do I do now, Like I said I have always loved and worked in fashion but it is not the same industry as it is in London and the same opportunities are not available. I needed to find a niche that worked for me and my mum lifestyle so I decided I would build my business as a personal stylist. By sheer luck a few weeks later someone approached me and asked if I knew anyone who could style them for NYFW. Of course I knew someone, it was me and that was really how my business started. Of course this was until covid came along and no one required my services or wanted me in their house. I worked to make connections and pivoted my business to work in production for fashion shows and photo shoots as a styling assistant.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I am a fashion stylist/ personal stylist. I started my business to work with personal clients. Helping them organize their closets and dressing them for events, vacations and every day life
On the production side I love all the brands I work with on their photoshoots. its so satisfying to see it all come to life and be an integral part of the team.
On top of all of this I try to post fun content to my instagram account. Fashion I love, fashion I wear and fashion inspiration for my followers
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would probably start with sunday brunch at soho house and then a day at the beach
Monday we would head over to wynwood to have a walk around and visit the walls, although I am very disappointed that they now charge to enter. A definite pit stop at Cielito for a cool artisan pop and a swing on the rockers outside
Tueasday we would go to Mandolin for lunch and then a stroll around the Design District
Wednesday we would visit the Rubell Museum, I have not been there yet
Then we would head to Bal Harbor for an early dinner at Makoto
Thursday would be a real cheesy tourist day, Bayside and then Thriller boat ride. This always gets people excited,
Friday a rest day at Tidal Cove
Saturday Sadelles for brunch and a walk around Coconut grove
Wow im exhausted
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I have to thank my husband as without him I would not be able to juggle working and 3 kids, In the production area the hours can be grueling so he has really stepped up to help me in the mornings to get everyone out of the house. My ‘sister wife’ Lauren is also a massive support, always on hand to collect my children. It takes a village
