We had the good fortune of connecting with Statia Jones and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Statia, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
Sometimes I wonder if there is such a thing called work-life balance. Everyday is different and the most important trait I had to adopt is being adaptable. What makes each day successful for me is having a list of things that I need to accomplish and scheduling it out. Setting breaks and family time is imperative.
A combination of discipline, moments to unwind, and social time makes a perfect work-life balance. Also, setting hard stops is essential for me to stay on track.
Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
My business is housed in the photography industry and expands into the creative director and brand strategist territories. I’ve been a photographer for a number of years and the biggest thing that sets me apart is the relationships that I build with my clients. I honor my client relationships and I always strive to provide an exceptional experience.
I am most proud of my tenacity to keep going. I continue to grow my business despite the obstacles that I face. It certainly is not easy running a business and it takes a lot of courage, time, research, practice and networking to get where I am professionally. Each road block I have faced was met with the determination to overcome it.
Along the way I have learned many lessons that prepared me for the next. The journey has taught me that I don’t need to have it all together and I can also learn as I go.
My brand consists of helping people discover what sets them apart. I want them to discover it, get curious and ultimately become the best version of themselves.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We have to spend a day at Disney and Universal Studios. As many museums as we can. Cafe Tu Tu Tango, The Stubborn Mule, Wekeiva Springs, Boxi Park, Icon Park, the malls and outlets.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have an incredible support system between my friends and family. I honestly would not have the capacity to accomplish my goals without them. Countless hours and time goes into running and marketing a business. I owe it to them for giving me the space and time to do it and for helping to expand my network. They definitely deserve to be recognized.
I specifically want to shout out my mom for not only believing in me, but also investing in me from the beginning. She continuously encourages me to build upon my foundation and inspires me to keep going.
