We had the good fortune of connecting with Stephanie Scianna Pitts and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Stephanie, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
Work life balance is a funny thing. Are we ever really balanced or do we teeter on the rope just enough so we don’t fall down? When I first started my business, I wasn’t thinking about balance, I was thinking about being the greatest at everything I did all the time. Well, as you can imagine, that didn’t work out very well. I was absolutely exhausted mentally and physically. What I do understand now is that we are never actually balanced. Sometimes we are leaning to the side of our business or work, sometimes we are leaning to the side of our family/life. In both of these scenarios, we don’t neglect the other side, we just put more focus into one side, then lean back into the other and on and on. The 2 biggest things that I have learned is that #1 I can ask for help. #2. I don’t have to feel guilty for leaning one way or another because I know I will always come back to the other side.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
artNEST is an Art Studio for kids ages 1-13 that focuses on safety (mental/physical), FUN and creativity. We are unique in that we combine a great practice of Process Based Art and technique learning concepts. We provide an opportunity for kids to recognize their power and become the most creative versions of themselves in a stress free, nurturing and non-judgemental environment. Kids can be the kids that are meant to be! We started as a tiny studio in Delray Beach as a proof of concept model and the community truly embraced us. Once we saw the demand, we made the decision to open a larger location so we can host birthday parties, have bigger workshops and camps and generally allow our ideas to flow. Once that location was up and running, we saw a need in West Boca so we opened another studio in that beautiful community. From there, we were asked to provide enrichments in a few local schools and since then, we have expanded that section of the business and employ a Director of Off-sites. It’s been an amazing journey. Was it easy? NO WAY, but it was and continues to be FUN…even the hard parts. One of the superpowers of creative beings is our power to solve problems, we did it during the pandemic, and we continue to do it now as we improve our offerings and come up with new ways to serve our communities.
We want the world to know that life is hard for both adults and kids, but if we can provide a moment in time where everything else melts away and you learn to believe in yourself and your choices to become a better human, then we have done our jobs!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my friends were visiting, I would take them to Miami to some of our favorite restaurants (Kyu, Osaka, to name a couple). Have a day at the beach, take a boat ride, do some jet skiing, see a show, eat some more. Then have some QT hanging out at our house sipping drinks by the pool laughing.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
We would not be who we are today with the love and support of our communities. Our customers, families and friends that have always supported us, given us words of encouragement, told their friends about us, signed up for classes/parties/workshops/camps, shared our posts and stories. It is because of you that we exist so there is no better shout out!
