We had the good fortune of connecting with Stephanie Ulloa and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Stephanie, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I’ve always wanted to be my own boss. I’ve always been fiercely independent and played by my own rules. While I have worked many corporate jobs, ultimately, I was never happy until I was working for myself on my business

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I’ve always been a creative person and love to through parties. After having the “post-wedding blues” once my own wedding was over, I become kind of a go-to person for my friends and family whenever they were throwing any kind of event. I nearly single-handedly planned my sister-in-laws quinceanera and the rest is history. I’ve spent the last 10 years building my business and was on track to have my best year ever (pre-COVID). I believe what sets me apart from others in my industry is my involvement in my company and dedication to the work. When you call for that initial inquiry, you are calling my personal cell phone number. While I do have assistants that accompany me on the day of events, I am your point of contact from Day 1. I am obviously proud of the outcomes of these events, how beautiful they turn out, how satisfied my clients are, but what I am most proud of is how far I’ve come. I have worked my tail off to be where I am. There is so much more to do and many more goals I want to achieve, and I can’t wait to see what the future holds. Building this business has not been easy. It can be incredibly discouraging when you’ve been on the phone with one prospective client for several days, and that client ultimately chooses another planner. Or when the phone doesn’t ring for a few weeks. But I’ve learned to be patient and that you are never given more than you can handle at one time. I would like the world to know that I truly love what I do and am incredibly passionate about it. It does not feel like because I am doing what I love to do.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Miami is definitely a town where people love to play. I would of course take them to usual spots, like South Beach, Brickell and Wynwood. But I would also tour them around some more “off the beaten path” places in neighborhoods like Coconut Grove, Little Havana, Doral and even Hialeah and Kendall. Believe it or not, these areas have really seen tons of growth and expansion in the last few years. There some great gems everywhere in Miami if you know where to look. I’m a foodie so I love to try new restaurants and would gladly introduce people to some of my favorite places, like Bulla, Chef Adrienne’s, Kush, Nightowl, Sweet Melody, Strange Beast, and Spanish Marie. Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to dedicate my shout out to my “village.” There is no way I would be where I am without my husband, son, family and friends. My husband for always supporting my crazy ideas; my son who while doesn’t understand why I work so much, will one day appreciate my work ethic and drive; my family who help me with child care and unconditional support; my friends who promote the hell out of my business and who occasionally are “Volunteered” as helping hands when I need it. I am nothing without these amazing people.
