We had the good fortune of connecting with Stephany Gonzalez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Stephany, let’s talk legacy – what do you want yours to be?
I believe I am in the process of creating my legacy right now. I want to be remembered as someone who was loving and championed others really well. As someone who was so authentic that it created safety for others to show up as their true selves. As a lover of God and lover of people with a strong conviction for truth and integrity. Lastly, as a human being who was vibrant/joyful, accepting, and as a person who loved helping others.

Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
When you pursue a career in the mental health field, you are often warned that you will struggle and that it’s hard to be successful.

When I graduated with my Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy and started working in the field, I was quickly faced with the reality that my work wasn’t valued by many employers, and this gave me an opportunity to pivot.

I decided to create a private practice that would give me the ability to show up as the healthiest version of myself to my clients. Taking the initial step was difficult, there was a lot of uncertainty and a lot of voices telling me that I could fail, but I decided to be afraid and do it anyway. I’ve learned to be resourceful, to trust my instincts and how to maintain a healthy rhythm between work and life.

As a result of my belief in myself, my business and my clients, my private practice grew exponentially very quickly.

My hope for people that hear my story is that they would walk away believing that that no matter how many people tell them that they can’t, so long as they believe in themselves, the possibilities are endless.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would definitely start off the trip in the iconic and delicious Versailles Restaurant, take a stroll down the Miami River walk, go to Wynwood and eat some good food, have good coffee and enjoy the city. I would enjoy the beautiful beaches, take a quick trip to Key West and spend some time in the Brickell area.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There is no way I can take full credit for who I am and where I am in life. I am so thankful for the love and support of my husband, family, mentors and friends who have carried me through this journey.
