Meet Stessie Marcson | Fashion Designer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Stessie Marcson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Stessie, what’s something about your industry that outsiders are probably unaware of?
An important factor in the fashion industry that isn’t talked about enough is the research that goes behind each collection. Today’s zeitgeist is focused more on micro-trends and buying the popular things we currently see on our social media. As a growing brand, I have to not only understand the current trends but the cycle of where they originated from. Knowing the history and the reason why current trends correlates to today’s atmosphere also lets me predict what’s to come. An outsider’s point of view of designers can be them just creating what comes to mind, although that is true; ideas are always influenced by or came from somewhere. Fashion is ever-changing and designers should have a level of understanding of the industry to stay ahead of the curve. Adapting and predicting the future is the best way to assure success and longevity in the fashion industry.
My main goal for Yung Stess Studio is to honor fashion designing as an art form, pay due to the influences from the past while making way to the future. I want outsiders to make that connecting in my brand as soon as they are introduced to it.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am very excited for the future and where my studio will lead me. I have already witness so much growth within myself and my business, the future is now embedded into my brain. Experience is the only true credit to where I am today, I had to learn and acknowledge what I love and want to do vs. what I wasn’t willing to do. It’s easy to get caught up, especially in today’s world. Differentiating myself and having an idea of what I want in the long run makes it hard for me to settle and only go after what I am seeing already being done. I want my brand and story to speak for itself, I’m open to never-ending learning and finding new ways for my brand to be impactful.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
This shout out is dedicated to my family and friends that I consider family. They have always given me the space to be exactly who I wish to be. No crazy idea of mine has ever not been supported and I am/will always be grateful to be surrounded by love, support and encouragement.
