We had the good fortune of connecting with Steven Blackett and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Steven, what is the most important factor behind your success?
Very interesting question and I believe many struggle with this answer. For me it’s staying true to yourself. It’s quite easy to become someone else because they have provided a blue print that’s accessible, However, the world has already seen that and absorbed that persona or brand. Each person is unique in their own way and I believe a person should utilize their uniqueness to their benefit and staying absolutely true to themselves.
You need to find what that ‘it factor’ is in you, and when you do, there is nothing or no one that can stop you. So for me I can’t just state one factor. I would consider the use my strengths, embracing my weaknesses, having an appetite for stepping out into the unknown and most importantly, putting my trust in God to guide my thoughts and actions. This is what I will say are the most important factors behind my success.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I consider myself a creative but I also have a professional life. I am always looking to lend a helping hand because I firmly believe in growing together. So this mindset I believe sets me apart from others. I am very excited and proud of my daughter. Nothing can replace that. However, as of recently I hosted a successful event called Le Jardin Du Belaire held in Barbados. That is my new baby and I’m excited to see where it can go.
I have to give gratitude to my parents for raising me the right way (hahah). Her guidance is a testament to my success today. This journey hasn’t always been smooth, this pandemic was difficult for me but I gained several positives coming out from it. It made me a stronger person and I can say it brought me closer to God which in turn has assisted me in getting pass difficult times. Nothing in life comes easy, the world doesn’t give handouts. You need to get up every day and work for what you want, whether it may be professionally, relationships etc.
I am from Barbados and I represent Sovereign Brands (Luc Belaire and other alcohol) globally. I also have been on TV in a reality series starring in two shows. Lastly I have a degree in Human Resource Management and two certificates in recruitment and talent acquisition. I love Human Resources
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Recognition must go to my family, special mention to my daughter Sarai. I do this for her. My immediate circle of friends and lastly my partner Martine.
