We had the good fortune of connecting with Steven Freivogel and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Steven, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
It was actually a hobby that turned into a business. My original direction was not towards the web, programming, marketing or development but was going to be in broadcasting.

By me not doing doing broadcasting, I turned my hobby into something that I thought could be worthwhile to people and offer a better service than what is out there. The more personal touch and going above and beyond what is needed.

Please tell us more about your business. How did you get to where you are today business-wise. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
I started my business around 2000 and did not have a clue about business and was very junior behind the wheel but I also did not have much offers coming out of college for jobs.

So, I decided to start a business and figured I could offer affordable web needs for what people were seeking. My business has been all word of mouth and no paid advertising (all organic marketing). It was not easy but many people have referred  me to other people and so on and so forth. To overcome challenges, I used my knowledge of Internet/Digital Marketing to “market” myself thus allowing me to not pay for advertising and accrue that cost.

What I learned is that you have to gain a one on one trust with the customer or client and support them all the way through and even after the projects are done.

The world should know its not easy and there have been ups and downs but the web offers greater avenues to succeed if you just take the time to do, learn and ask a lot of questions.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would grab the family and the best friend and go to Universal Studios or Disney for at least one or two of the days. I would also go to a ball game at Fort Myers, West Palm Beach or The Miami Marlins. Maybe do a little shopping at Sawgrass Mills Mall, stop by Tate’s Comic Shop, eat at Flanagan’s Restuarant, catch a sports event at FAU, stop at the science museum in Fort Lauderdale, catch a race at homestead race track, drive a race car at Richard Petty’s school, see the World War II Bombers at Boca Airport and show them the beach. Seeing the beach can always bring a smile to anyone’s face.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are a couple: Joyce Freivogel, Samantha Freivogel, Dr Newsome of FAU, Steve Deemer, Richard and Paula Freivogel, Benjamin Leff, Allen Bellman, Mark Mckenna, Tate at Tates Comics and Cal Ripken, Jr.
