Meet Steven Kenny | Fine Art Painter

We had the good fortune of connecting with Steven Kenny and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Steven, why did you pursue a creative career?
I chose an artistic career for a variety of reasons:

1) Making art has been the most enjoyable activity I’ve ever devoted my time to.

2) Growing up as an introverted child, making art has always been my most rewarding way of communicating with others. It was a way to be seen and heard.

3) My family has always been incredibly encouraging and supportive.

4) Early success and recognition spurred me on, giving me the confidence to set increasingly higher goals for myself.

5) Making art has always been an integral part of each day so it only made sense to blend life and career as one.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I really can’t say that the images I create are very visually different from many that have been made in the past and even many that are being made by painters of today. Instead of trying to be different, what I strive to achieve is a high level of quality both in craftsmanship and content. Over the course of my 40-year career I believe I’ve been able to maintain a certain standard without my work becoming boring by including elements of surprise and wonder.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
In the course of my career there have been many people along the way who have helped me along my path but without the support and encouragement of my family I may never have taken the first steps.
