Meet Sue-Ellen Anderson-Haynes | Founder & CEO of 360Girls&Women® Women’s Health Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN), Diabetes (CDCES) & Fitness Expert (NASM-WFSCPT)

We had the good fortune of connecting with Sue-Ellen Anderson-Haynes and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sue-Ellen, every day, we about how much execution matters, but we think ideas matter as well. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
360Girls&Women® :
Having my daughter brought my business idea to life. I just knew there had to be girls and women out there who were in need of the knowledge and tools I possess to help them become a healthier version of themselves so that they can transfer generational wealth, aka, health to their daughters. Prevention of diseases/illnesses that are very common to women is one of our cornerstones but management of disease to slow progression or just achieving optimal health is also a focus. As a credentialed and licensed healthcare professional I possess the skills to accomplish real results for girls and women and I am grateful I have been able to do this.
Our focus is on complete health throughout the complete lifecycle which addresses all aspects of health, not just nutrition and fitness (where many wellness companies focus) but also on the mental and spiritual aspects as well. I knew my target audience had to be girls and women because of several reasons besides being a vulnerable or high-risk group but I also needed to include something that meant wholesomeness or completion so I chose the number “360” because it represents completion.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Since childhood, I have been passionate about health and wellness and I thought this meant I was supposed to be a physician, however, I was mistaken. I found my dream career as a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN). We (RDN) employ a different approach – instead of using medicine to heal or treat we use food via medical nutrition therapy to help nurse people back to health and to prevent many chronic diseases. My company uses nutrition as the foundation for all of our programs along with other evidence-based approaches. This is not just any type of nutrition where you take a course and become certified in a few weeks – this is hard core years of studying the science of food and the body, dietetics, and wellness with years of education in undergraduate and graduate school, and internships/residency program, in addition to passing a board exam. At 360Girls&Women®we address complete health (physical, mental, and spiritual) throughout the complete lifecycle of girls and women using nutrition therapy in addition to complementary and alternative evidence-based approaches.
I’m most excited about meeting new faces of girls and women and getting the opportunity to change their health trajectory. In addition, to maintaining a relationship with the ones of I have nurtured. Whether they are struggling with irregular periods, athletic performance, body image issues, pregnancy/postpartum challenges, choosing wellness/food products, hot flashes, to fighting diabetes, cancer – We want to be the company who changed their lives for the better.
It was not easy to get where I am today as a business owner. Being my own cheerleader, planning ahead, networking, and pivoting when needed were all key factors that led me to the success of where I am today – a growing woman-founded and black-owned private practice owner. There is still lots of work to do and I look forward to the challenge to grow and reach others.
360Girls&Women®is a wellness company for girls and women yet to me it is my personal brand and my ministry – a purpose I need to fufill on this earth. It was conceived from life circumstances and lessons learnt as a girl, young women, and now as a mother. It is also built on experiences and interactions with grandmothers, aunts, nieces, patients and clients throughout my career in the dietetics and wellness field. We want to dispel health and wellness myths, encourage selfcare practices, provide trustworthy RDN-approved product recommendations, build professional relationships with other healthcare providers, provide resources like easily digestible evidence-based education through our blog, ebooks, and courses and offer one-on-one HIPPA secure virtual nutrition therapy and health coaching. We want girls and women to be phenomenal in body, mind, and spirit to achieve –Complete Health for The Complete You™
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
When my best friend visited me in college at the University of Florida we would take a trip during break and go to Miami to relax and have a good time. We would go to the Biscayne bay cruise to sightsee. Next, head to South beach to relax and take in some sun then to the Lincoln Road shopping mall to window shop or pick up a outfit. Finally,we would head over to dinner with live music at Havana 1957 -Ocean Drive.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
The book that sparked my desire to be who I am today is called “The Purpose Driven Life” by Rick Warren. When I read this book, I just knew I was here on earth to serve in a specific God-driven capacity. Shout out to God for allowing me to read “The Purpose Driven Life” – it changed my life.
Shout out to my husband, Michael. He played a huge role in providing me the leeway to pursue my career/business goals because it’s not just “my” business it’s a family affair – it’s about also showing my children what it entails to successfully run a business. And of course, shout out to my daughter and inspiration, Elizabeth for setting the tone for this business idea.
