We had the good fortune of connecting with Sue-Tanya Mchorgh and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sue-Tanya, what is the most important factor behind your success?
I think the most important factor behind my success would be perseverance. I have lost count of the number of times I have felt discouraged during my entrepreneurial journey. I have had doors closed in my face and failed many times, but I persevered.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I am in the business of helping small business owners get their brand/business online through websites, social media and content creation. One thing that makes me stand out from others businesses in the industry is my process. I provide a wholesome package. I’ll take you from the brainstorming process right through to launch day.
Running a business is hard work. There’s been lots of sleepless nights, lots of tears but I kept going regardless. I feel that’s the motto for all successful business owners. It’s never easy but they all kept going regardless.
I’ve learned so many lessons during my journey. Failure will happen no matter how much you prepare.
Time is valuable, so use your time wisely. Implementing systems that will help you to maximize your time will be beneficial.
Lastly, perfection is the enemy of progress. Start with what you have and build on it.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m from the beautiful island of Jamaica. The first thing I would do is to go to the beach. That’s where I unwind, journal and be one with nature. My favourite beach spot in my area is Bob Marley’s Beach. The sand is black, the water is crystal blue and the area is secluded. It’s the perfect place to relax.
Dining out is one of my favourite hobbies so I’ll have a few places lined up for us to visit. We can have drinks at the AC Hotel in Kingston, brunch at Cafe Blue in Irish town and dinner at The Julie Mango in Kingston. These are all faves of mine because of their views, food and aesthetics.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to shout out my Dad. He is my biggest inspiration. I saw him start his business when I was younger, saw how dedicated he was and how he was able to provide for his family. That encouraged me to start a business of my own.
