We had the good fortune of connecting with Sunny Marz and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sunny, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Honestly, I never planned to become an entrepreneur—but becoming a mom completely changed the way I saw the world. I had a great career in cybersecurity, but after having my first daughter, my whole perspective shifted. I saw firsthand how little support there was for women navigating fitness during pregnancy and postpartum. It felt like no one was really talking about things like pelvic floor recovery or diastasis recti—and most fitness spaces didn’t feel mom-friendly at all.

So I started Miami Mami to fill that gap. I wanted to create something that made moms feel seen, supported, and empowered in their own bodies. A service that comes to you—whether at home, at the park, or online—because let’s be real, convenience matters when you’re juggling kids, work, and everything else.

It wasn’t just about workouts—it was about building strength, rebuilding confidence, and creating a real sense of community. I knew if I could help even one mom feel stronger, healthier, and more like herself again, it would be worth it. And now, seeing how many lives we’ve impacted… it’s the most rewarding thing I’ve ever done.

What should our readers know about your business?
Miami Mami was born from my own experience as a new mom searching for fitness support that actually understood what I was going through—physically, emotionally, and mentally. We’re a mobile and virtual fitness studio designed specifically for moms—whether they’re pregnant, postpartum, or just trying to find themselves again after kids.

What sets us apart is that we don’t just focus on the body—we care about the woman inside that body. Our certified trainers come to your home, meet you where you are, and bring everything you need. We collaborate with OB-GYNs and pelvic floor therapists, and we support you with real-life tools like core and pelvic floor recovery, strength training, holistic nutrition, and a community that lifts each other up.

Getting here wasn’t easy. I left a secure career in cybersecurity to start something that felt deeply meaningful—but also incredibly risky. I had no roadmap, just a vision. There were moments of fear, doubt, burnout—but I kept going because I knew moms deserved better. And I wanted to be the one to build it.

What I’m most proud of is the impact we’ve had. Seeing women feel strong again, confident again—themselves again—that’s what drives me. Every transformation, every “thank you,” every tearful hug after a session reminds me that this is so much more than fitness.

I’ve learned that building something meaningful takes time, resilience, and a lot of heart. You have to trust the process, stay aligned with your purpose, and surround yourself with people who believe in you.

What I want the world to know is that Miami Mami isn’t just a business. It’s a movement. It’s about redefining what strength looks like in motherhood, and creating a space where women don’t have to choose between showing up for their families and showing up for themselves.

This is my purpose—and I’m just getting started.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend was visiting Miami for the week, we’d make it the perfect mix of movement, good food, deep chats, and a little pampering—basically everything we moms dream of when we finally get a break!

We’d kick off one morning with a workout at Muscle Beach around 8 am—nothing beats sweating it out with the sound of the waves and that ocean breeze. Afterwards, we’d head to Pura Vida for breakfast. Their açaí bowls and iced matchas are my go-to and always hit the spot.

Sunday morning would be all about slow living—we’d stroll through the Vizcaya Farmers Market, grab a fresh juice, maybe pick up some local honey or flowers, and then spend time exploring the Vizcaya Museum & Gardens. It’s one of those magical spots in Miami that feels like stepping into a European escape—so peaceful and inspiring.

We’d definitely have a spa day at The Standard Spa—massages, facials, and a little time in the steam room or by the water. It’s our chance to fully unplug and just breathe.

For lunch, El Turco in Buena Vista is a must—so cozy, delicious, and feels like a hidden treasure. And for dinner? Always Byblos. It’s elegant, fun, and the food is unforgettable.

At night, we’d start with cocktails at ZeyZey, dancing under the lights, and then make our way to Sweet Liberty in Miami Beach—great energy, amazing drinks, and always a good time.

We’d also take plenty of walks through South Pointe Park, talk about life, motherhood, dreams… the kind of conversations you only have with your closest people in the perfect setting.

What I love most about Miami is how it feeds every part of you. You can move your body, feed your soul, connect with nature, and feel alive—all in one day. That’s what I’d want to share with her… and that’s why I’m so grateful to call this place home.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Without a doubt, my biggest shoutout goes to my husband. From the very beginning, he’s believed in me—sometimes even more than I believed in myself. He’s an entrepreneur too, so he understands the pressure, the self-doubt, and the sacrifices that come with chasing a dream.

There were nights when I questioned everything—leaving my corporate job, starting something from scratch, taking risks that felt terrifying. And every single time, he was there reminding me why I started, telling me I was capable, and helping me see the bigger picture when I got lost in the details.

His advice has shaped so much of how I run my business, but more importantly, his support gave me the courage to keep going when things got hard. Miami Mami exists because I had someone in my corner who never let me give up. And for that, I’m endlessly grateful.
