We had the good fortune of connecting with Susana Fuertes and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Susana, what habits do you feel helped you succeed?
Network! Network! Network! and Consistency. Engaging with your usual clients, social media followers, and with other small business owners is very important. I also believe that no matter what type of business you are in, customer service should be your number one priority. It is very important to keep communication in ways a client feels comfortable whether it is via email, phone calls, or text messages. When it comes to social media, you have a more broad way to engage with your followers. What has worked for me thus far, is posting content at least twice a day. It is imperative to offer valuable content. Also to make things a bit more fun and to thank my followers for their support, I like posting giveaways during major holidays. These approaches motivate your followers to engage with your page and website. Whenever possible I prefer to buy services from small business owners. I like to encourage people, to support small business owners in any way they can. Many of us know how difficult it is to build an audience when you are just starting up so what I like to do is separate time in my day to engage and collaborate with other businesses. You would be surprised what a simple like, comment or share can do. During these crucial times, reaching out to not only be informed and engaged in new business but to also see how everyone is doing has been essential.

Please tell us more about your art. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way? What do you want to know about you or your brand and story?
My floral art arrangements help people create long-lasting memories and impressions, one rose at a time. It makes me proud to be able to help my clients transmit their feelings to their loved ones regardless of how many miles they are apart. During these unprecedented times, I have the opportunity more than ever to help many people feel close to their loved ones. Each of our floral creations is made to order and handcrafted especially for them. Our real preserved roses have been treated with a non-toxic formula. This technique makes our roses last at least a year without the need for water or sunlight. It makes us excited to be able to offer a wide variety of colorful, high-quality, and vibrant roses all year round. We also like to give our clients the peace of mind that what they order online is exactly what the recipient would receive. Therefore, we send them a picture before their order gets deliver and also a delivery notification.

I am a firm believer that challenges make your success story, but the challenges that many business owners have overcome to me during unprecedented times are amazing and inspiring. Starting a business from scratch with no experience or business background has not been a smooth road. Fortunately for me, my passion, tenacity, and family have supported and motivated me to keep hustling and stay consistent. Being a small business owner has guided me to build genuine relationships between clients and fellow entrepreneurs. Having to play different roles during the early stage of my business was challenging. The main lesson I learned is to never give up and look for opportunities to continue to grow. One of my favorite quotes is “Success is not final; failure is not fatal: It is the courage to continue that counts.”- Winston S. Churchill. I want the world to know that anything good in life; requires passion, time, and perseverance. To me, the word “NO” stands for New opportunities and I encourage everyone to do the same.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would start our week by taking my friend for a relaxing and top-notch spa day at “Ann Lash Beauty Bar” located in Pompano, FL. We would also go paddleboarding in Fort Lauderdale, FL, and enjoy a nice yoga afternoon by the beach. Then, I will take her to try some vegan munchies, relaxing Kava, and energizing Kratom at “Leaves and Roots” located in Fort Lauderdale Mass District. Another amazing place to visit for an exquisite and great variety of flavorful teas will be my favorite tea house “Queen’s Tea House” located in Coral Springs, FL. Their decoration is beautiful, and their customer service is always outstanding. In Coral Springs, we can also find “Falafel Bistro”, they offer Mediterranean food with delicious vegan options. I will also invite my friend to “Her Power Moves” co-working space located in Lauderhill, Florida. The owner is always very attentive and friendly. Of course, I wouldn’t let her leave without having the chance to appreciate some art and meet some local talented artists by visiting all “Zero Empty Spaces” locations in Broward and Miami County.   The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I am thankful for my family’s support and encouragement. Outside my family circle, I have been fortunate to meet people full of kindness, knowledge, and a passion to help and serve others. Two people dear to my heart that have been there from the beginning of my business until this day are Ms. Dahlia Goldsmith and Ms. Marlinda Taylor from the Urban League Of Broward County. Since I joined the entrepreneurship center, Ms. Dahlia has been the individual who until this day keeps informing me about different opportunities that can help me grow as a business owner. I am glad that I have been able to surround myself with such amazing people and I’m thankful for their mentorship and support.
