Meet Svetlana Uryanskaya | Influencer and Content Creator

Hi Svetlana, why did you pursue a creative career?
I pursued an artistic and creative career because I’ve always had a deep passion for art and creativity. From a young age, I found myself drawn to expressing my imagination and emotions through various forms of artistic expression. In fact, my enthusiasm for art was so strong that my early creations didn’t just stay on paper; they often found their way onto walls and mirrors, much to the chagrin of my parents haha, but it was a testament to my unwavering dedication to creativity.

My educational journey further solidified my commitment to a creative career path. I graduated from an art school in Russia, where I had the opportunity to refine my skills and explore various artistic mediums. Later, I earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Miami International University of Art and Design. This formal education provided me with the knowledge and techniques needed to take my creativity to the next level.

Throughout my life, I knew that I wanted to make a career out of my passion for creativity. While I’ve ventured into the world of being an influencer and content creator, where I’ve been able to explore various facets of creativity, I’ve also maintained my love for traditional art. My art Instagram account, @aliceinweb3land, is a platform where I share my artwork, connect with other art enthusiasts, and continue to nurture my artistic journey.

In essence, pursuing an artistic and creative career has been a lifelong calling for me, driven by my innate love for self-expression and the desire to contribute to the world through the power of art and creativity.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My artistic journey has been deeply influenced by my love for traditional art, with Vincent van Gogh being my favorite artist, and the Renaissance period holding a special place in my heart. One of the most inspiring experiences was the opportunity to see incredible artworks in person when I visited the Louvre in Paris, as well as exploring museums and historic places in Spain, Italy, and Greece last year during a month-long trip. Experiencing such beauty firsthand is a constant source of inspiration and motivation, and it directly translates into my own artwork and my career as an influencer.

My path to where I am today professionally was not without its challenges. I originally hail from Russia but moved to Miami with my parents when I was 14. Adjusting to a new country and culture while not being fluent in English was a daunting task, but I persevered and graduated high school with honors. The same determination carried me through university, where I graduated with a degree in interior design. However, looking back, I wish I had chosen graphic design or illustration, as they would have aligned better with my passion for creativity and content creation.

My experience as an interior designer was not without its difficulties. I faced discrimination for being Russian, particularly during the years of President Trump’s tenure because of the election scandals. This made me despise my job, and it was almost a relief when I got laid off. It was during this challenging period that I realized it was a sign for me to pursue what I had been yearning for all along.

Watching beauty gurus on YouTube during that time was a significant source of inspiration, and I knew I wanted that to be my career. Getting laid off served as a manifestation of my desire to become an influencer and content creator. So, I took the leap and started my influencer journey. I’m extremely grateful for how far it has brought me, not only in terms of my career but also for the incredible friendships and partnerships I’ve formed along the way. It’s a testament to the power of following one’s passion and persevering through challenges to achieve personal and professional fulfillment.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend was visiting the area, I would want to ensure they have an unforgettable time. Here’s what our itinerary might look like:

Universal Orlando Park: We’d start with a thrilling adventure at Universal Orlando Park. We’d enjoy the exhilarating rides, immerse ourselves in the magic of Harry Potter World, and explore the various themed attractions for an action-packed day.

Key West Snorkeling: We’d head to Key West for some tropical fun. We’d take a trip to the beautiful Florida Keys and indulge in snorkeling. Exploring the colorful underwater world of the coral reefs would be an unforgettable experience.

Dining at Prima Pasta: We’d unwind with a delicious meal at Prima Pasta on 71st street. We’d savor some mouthwatering pasta dishes and enjoy the cozy ambiance of this Italian restaurant.

Horseback Riding: To add a touch of adventure and nature to our trip, we’d go horseback riding. Exploring scenic trails on horseback would provide a serene and memorable way to end our trip.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Absolutely, I’d love to dedicate this shoutout to two significant influences in my life. First and foremost, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to my family. Their unwavering support, encouragement, and belief in my creative pursuits have been instrumental in shaping who I am today. From the very beginning, they embraced my artistic inclinations, even when I was drawing on walls and mirrors as a child! Their love and encouragement have been a constant source of motivation throughout my creative journey.

Secondly, I’d like to give a special shoutout to my favorite book, “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland” by Lewis Carroll. This timeless literary masterpiece has had a profound impact on my life. It opened the door to my imagination and creativity in ways I can’t even begin to describe. The whimsical and fantastical world of Wonderland, filled with eccentric characters and surreal landscapes, has been a boundless source of inspiration for my artistic endeavors. This book has not only been a beloved read but a guiding light in my creative pursuits.
