We had the good fortune of connecting with Sylvia Soares and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sylvia, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
In both my personal and professional life, I wholeheartedly embrace the notion that without risk, there can be no rewards.

This belief is deeply rooted in my approach to challenges and opportunities. In my professional endeavors, I’ve found that taking risks, be it accepting ambitious projects or starting a PR agency as a side hustle, has been instrumental in achieving significant milestones. I believe that success demands stepping outside one’s comfort zone – working hard and pushing boundaries.

I view risks not as obstacles but as catalysts for growth and learning. The times when I’ve taken risks have often resulted in the most rewarding outcomes, both personally and professionally. In 2010, I graduated with a master’s degree from George Mason University and was living in Washington, D.C. at the time. I finally landed a great job with the U.S. Travel Association working in the government relations department, helping lobby for travel related issues. By early 2015, D.C. was losing its luster, and I knew it was time for me to move on… but where?

Following a weekend trip to Fort Lauderdale, I felt an undeniable connection that hinted at the possibility of calling it home. After months of planning, from diligent saving and working a side job to clear debts, to job hunting and numerous trips for informational interviews and apartment searches, I took the plunge in September 2015. Relocating to a place with no friends, family, or job I embarked on a journey fueled by determination. This risk turned out to be the pivotal decision that kickstarted my career in Public Relations. Over the years, my professional path has been marked by calculated leaps—transitioning from one agency to another, venturing into marketing and PR for a Hilton hotel, and embracing the challenges of being a PR freelancer. Today, I serve as a full-time PR Account Manager while concurrently steering my own PR agency.

Reflecting on my entire journey, I recognize that the pivotal moments of my success have been linked to the risks I have taken in my life. It’s in these moments that opportunities for personal and professional development have emerged. While not every risk may yield immediate rewards, the collective experience shapes a resilient mindset, fostering adaptability and tenacity.

Taking risks has been a cornerstone of my life and career, and ultimately has driven me to start Blimitless Consulting LLC. The belief that without risk, there can be no rewards serves as a constant motivator, propelling me forward in pursuit of both personal and professional excellence.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Blimitless Consulting is a boutique public relations agency that offers a range of customized communications and marketing services. I’m proud to say that our unique background and expertise has been instrumental in driving the success of both our present and past clients. The agency can serve a diverse range of clients across sectors such as lifestyle, retail, real estate, hospitality, and travel.

My passion lies in assisting local South Florida businesses to enhance their brand awareness, attract new customers, and drive sustained business growth. What truly sets us apart is our commitment to becoming an integral part of our clients’ teams. Unlike conventional agencies with year-long contracts, we operate on a flexible month-to-month or 3-month contract basis, tailoring our services to the evolving needs of our clients. The agency offers tailored PR solutions, strategic marketing expertise, social media, copy writing services, and more – currently focused on local small businesses.

The journey to get here today has not been so easy. Starting and nurturing any business is no easy feat, especially when your time is divided between a full-time job. Currently, I manage an agency with three clients, while working full time, constantly adapting, and expanding my knowledge about this dynamic industry. Through this experience, I’ve gained valuable insights, learned the importance of time management and staying attuned to clients’ specific needs.

As the agency continues to grow, I anticipate transitioning and taking Blimitless to new heights, expanding our reach and solidifying our commitment to delivering unparalleled PR and marketing solutions for our clients here in South Florida and eventually beyond.

We want our clients to BInspired, BBold, and BLimitless.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I strive to maximize the enjoyment of my family and friends’ visits by weaving together moments of sun-soaked relaxation, culinary and cultural delights, and in some cases a vibrant nightlife.

I’d start with a day at Fort Lauderdale Beach and elevate the experience by securing a resort pass at either the W Fort Lauderdale or Conrad Fort Lauderdale Beach. The best of both worlds by spending time on the sandy beach and at the pool – indulging in delicious cuisine and handcrafted cocktails.

Take to the waters for a half-day boat excursion, exploring the intracoastal waterways and anchoring at the sandbar. Relaxing and taking in the ocean air while enjoying a selection of snacks and chilled beverages.

A must go spot for either lunch or dinner is Luigi’s Coal Oven Pizza on Las Olas. The best pizza you can get in my opinion! If they like to go out at night, I’d suggest walking down Las Olas since there are so many options, The Wharf (especially if there are any sporting games on) or Sparrow at The Dalmar Hotel.

South Florida has so much to offer so I would also suggest visiting Flamingo Gardens, a lush botanical paradise, or venture south to Miami for the vibrant street art of Wynwood or the timeless elegance of Vizcaya Museum & Gardens.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to extend my shoutout to my family and friends. Their unwavering support played a pivotal role when I took the bold leap to relocate to South Florida. Their encouragement, coupled with the belief that I could achieve anything I set my mind to, fueled my determination to secure my first job and pursue a rewarding career in Public Relations.

A special thank you to my husband, Marcos Soares. He has been the driving force behind the inception of Blimitless, serving as my constant source of motivation to be the best version of myself every day. His strong belief in my ability to start and succeed with my own agency has been a cornerstone of our shared journey. As a business owner, he not only understands the keys to success but also appreciates the hard work required.
Together, we collaboratively strive to unlock each other’s potential, fostering growth and maintaining a balance in both our businesses and personal lives
