We had the good fortune of connecting with Talia Brits and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Talia, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?

I am a proud South African! My journey from Bloemfontein to the cities of New York, Miami, Tampa, and Atlanta has given me a unique perspective that I’m always eager to bring into my work.

South Africa is a country of distinguished beauty and soulful warmth, but it’s also where I developed my resilience and passion for helping others. When I moved to New York City in 2016, I quickly realized how much I had taken simple living pleasures for granted. Growing up in a society where essentials like water, electricity, and safety were often scarce taught me how to adapt to challenges. I understood that while some people had the privilege of stability, I learned strength through adversity.

This upbringing shaped my belief that I can overcome anything and achieve whatever I set my mind to—a testament to the determined and hardworking spirit of the South African people.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.

My marketing journey started unexpectedly. During and after college, I worked in hospitality managing client relationships, which sparked my love for working with people. Shortly after, I was offered a marketing role with Time Out in Miami, and I’ve been hooked ever since!

What sets me apart in this field is my genuine care for the people I work with and the businesses I support. In an industry often driven by profit, I pride myself on being connection-focused and authentic. Over the years, I’ve worked my way up to director-level roles, managing teams and projects, often learning on the fly and adapting to new challenges.

This year, a life-threatening incident shifted my perspective and solidified my mission. It reminded me that tomorrow isn’t guaranteed, and there’s no better time than now to pursue your dream than now. Taking the leap to start my own agency, Crafted Influence, is my proudest accomplishment—an effort fueled by my self-taught skills, passion, and determination.

I’m passionate about helping small businesses and entrepreneurs harness the power of the Internet to grow and thrive. Through services like social media strategy, branding, digital campaigns, and influencer partnerships, I aim to empower clients with tools and strategies that make a measurable difference. My goal with Crafted Influence is to leave a positive, lasting impact, and I’m thrilled to continue building an agency that aligns with my values and passions.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

If my best friend were visiting Miami for the weekend, I’d kick things off with a coffee stroll on the beach because, as a coffee lover, that’s my favorite way to set the tone for any trip! We’d start at Market at Edition, Pura Vida, or Crema and then take a stroll in the sand between 65th and 78th Street. After that, we’d head to lunch at Abbalé or Joe & The Juice if we were looking for something more casual. For dinner, I’d suggest one of my favorite dining experiences on the beach: Catch.

Continuing to explore Miami’s coffee culture, on the second day we would stop at Walt Grace Vintage in Wynwood, Caracas Bakery in Belle Meade, and Imperial Moto Cafe in Little River. Dinner on night two could be Mediterranean-inspired at the famous Doya or modern Japanese at Uchi in Wynwood. Then we’d end the night with cocktails/mocktails at Miami Sound Bar or opt for something more relaxed, like Brother’s Keeper.

The rest of the weekend’s gaps would be filled with a mix of activities—we’d window shop in the Design District, stroll through the Legion Park Farmers Market, or take a Pilates class at YO BK. I’d also never pass up the chance to play some pickleball at The Miami Beach Golf Club. For good entertainment, we’d catch a concert at the arena and head to Jaguar Sun or Delilah afterward.

To wrap up the trip on Sunday, we’d grab soft serve from Peel—a sweet way to say goodbye to the beautiful city of Miami!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?

I’d like to dedicate my shoutout to my incredible support system whom I would not have been able to start this agency without- Mom, Dad, Ebert, Connor (& our 2 pups), Suré, Gabby, Mandolin, Lauren, Celene, Alexa & Alex. I love you all, thank you for cheering me on!
