We had the good fortune of connecting with Tam Barrant and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tam, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My thought process behind starting Dos Uno Co. was driven by the desire to fill a creative gap I saw within the community. I have a deep passion for fashion, content creation, and marketing, and with my background—a Master’s in marketing—I knew I could merge these skills into something truly dynamic. Florida’s fashion scene stands out; while much of the world is layering up, we’re still embracing lighter, breezy pieces, yet we want to stay on-trend. I realized there was no real guide tailored to our unique lifestyle here. Every time my friends and I were getting ready to go somewhere, we’d search “what to wear to…” but often found that the answers didn’t reflect the venue’s vibe or clientele. So, I thought, why not create comprehensive, curated style guides that not only keep us in style but also align with Florida’s culture and climate? I wanted to give people a resource that solves a problem I knew wasn’t just ours.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
What sets me apart is my resilience. I don’t let setbacks discourage me, which I believe is where many give up on their ventures. People often seek instant results with projects that require time to grow. If I know my content is strong and even a small audience appreciates it, then the content itself isn’t the issue—it’s a matter of exposure, which is tied to marketing strategy. My background in marketing, strengthened by my Master’s degree, has taught me how to refine these strategies and remain persistent.

My journey has been shaped by learning from smaller ventures that didn’t succeed, each one teaching me invaluable lessons about improvement. Failure has been my greatest teacher, and the vision I have for my life continues to fuel my determination. This is a role I’ve created for myself, and I am truly passionate about it. Even with its challenges, I stay committed and have witnessed tremendous personal growth by betting on myself.

Faith has played a crucial role in my progress. What I want people to understand is that you don’t have to conform to bring something valuable to the world—starting with how you present yourself. There’s a tendency to mimic others, losing sight of originality in the process. But I believe true success comes from embracing who you are, being bold, and building from within rather than copying what’s popular. Authenticity is invaluable, and that’s something no one can replicate or place a price on.

This idea started as a dream that kept me up at night, I was convicted about bringing it to fruition, so I knew I had to.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Sunday: Wellness & Relaxation
– Morning: Starting with the Coffee & Chill cold plunge event in Miami for a refreshing start to the week.
– Lunch: Enjoy a meal at Jaguar – the Lomo Saltado is my go-to
– Afternoon: Spend the afternoon shopping in the area, exploring local boutiques and stores. This is my fave area in Miami, it has small town vibes

Monday: Design District & Night Out
– Morning: Head to the Design District for more shopping, including some vintage thrifting at local shops.
– Lunch: Grab a bite at Itamae, savoring their famous ceviche.
– Evening: Shift gears with dinner at Delilah before heading out for a more relaxed night, maybe a house party vibe rather than a club scene.

Tuesday: Puppy Yoga & Brickell Vibes
– Morning: Start the day with puppy yoga at Puppy Sphere
– Dinner: Enjoy a meal at Milo’s in Miami Beach, known for their amazing Greek food.
– Evening: Spend the night exploring Brickell, checking out local bars and lounges.

Wednesday: South Beach Day & Solidcore
– Morning: Have a casual lunch at Nobu in Miami Beach.
– Afternoon: Hit South Beach for a day of sun and relaxation.
– Solidcore: Get a Pilates class in at my favorite studio
– Evening: Wind down after a day at the beach with a visit to Club Space – the perfect way to wind down in my opinion

Thursday: Running Club & Spa Day
– Morning: Join the Brickell Run Club for a fun and social run, even if you’re not the fastest—it’s about the vibe!
– Afternoon: A spa day at The Standard Spa or Lapis Spa at Fontainebleau
– Evening: Relax and enjoy a leisurely dinner in the area to wrap up the week at Sexy Fish or Joia Beach

Friday through Sunday would be rest and recovery, but I’m sure I’d squeeze in a few other restaurants and lounges as the grand finale of the visit.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I am deeply grateful to my friends for their support and for recognizing the vision behind Dos Uno Co. from the very beginning. I also want to extend my thanks to those who followed the page and subscribed early on, as well as the businesses—both large and small—that have generously shared my content. Their engagement wasn’t driven by a large follower count but by the quality of the content, which speaks volumes about the trajectory of this project and its long-term potential.
