We had the good fortune of connecting with Tamera Anderson-Hanna and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tamera, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
I had been practicing as a mental health and substance abuse counselor for several years. I felt I was experiencing burnout and decided to become a yoga teacher to support my own well-being and combine it with my experience as a Licensed Mental Health Professional for my own wellness business. I have now become a Registered Yoga Teacher and I use helpful skills to support my well-being but also that of my clients. I was diagnosed with breast cancer while taking yoga teacher training. Combining yoga movements and meditation was significant in my healing from cancer. I now use my own experience to help others since my being in recovery from cancer.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I offer mental health counseling and accept most private insurance. I also offer corporate and individual wellness services.

I have close to 30 years of experience in the field of substance abuse and mental health counseling. I use my experience as a cancer survivor and yoga teacher to additionally support individuals and groups by using a holistic and mindful approach to coping with life and the challenges we sometimes face. I let my passion for life guide me and help others connect with their best assets in life to find a sense of balance and well-being.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would encourage individuals to experience the vast opportunities to enjoy the outdoors in Florida from our beautiful beaches to the wilds of the Everglades.

I would work my way from Miami Beach and a beach front resort to Wynwood and then the Everglades and the Keys. Must do’s include Joe’s Stone Crab, R House, a city tour of Miami, Jaxson’s Ice Cream Parlor, try a mojito, stop at Cafe LA Trova, take a boat ride in the Everglades, and soak up the sun in Key West while having key lime pie on a stick and climbing the stairs to the Key West Lighthouse for a private sunset experience.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Cancer survivor and mental health professional.

I became a registered yoga teacher while healing from breast cancer in 2015. I now love supporting others in their mental health or wellness journey since my own experience with a life changing experience.

I would give an additional shout out not just to fellow cancer survivors and mental health professionals, but also Terri Cooper of 305 yoga who is one of my mentors in life.
