We had the good fortune of connecting with Tanaine Jenkins and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tanaine, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I wanted to be free. I wanted flexibility and I didn’t want the 9 to 5 lifestyle. I also didn’t want my salary capped. Not having to clock in or report to anyone is indeed freeing.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
The Loc’d Line is the only apparel company dedicated to your Loc’d Journey. Whether you rock locs, dreads, wicks or sister locs we are here to represent you.

The Loc’d Line is based in the US and create all designs in house. We are dedicated to our journey just as much as we are dedicated to yours.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m a big fan of hidden gems, San Marco has The Grape and Grain exchange, and downtown has The Volstead where craft cocktails go to live! Springfield has its own little art district, Avondale has the best parks and Jax Beach has Casa Marina hotel where they serve the best expresso martinis!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I believe that God places people in your life for a reason and he put Lolita Jerido in my path. She saw greatness in me when I did not. She led me to believe that I was worthy and enough and capable. She also told me that when someone has a platform they should use it and I’ve been going hard ever since.
