We had the good fortune of connecting with Tara Clivio and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tara, how does your business help the community?

If you think of the economic, social, and emotional consequences of not being physically strong and healthy, there are very few things that are impacting our community more than that at the moment. The pandemic only highlighted our weaknesses as a nation and in particular with regard to our health. Our pilates studio is a place where people go to make sure they look great, but it is also a place where we help build respiratory, cardiovascular and immune heath, where people get stronger, fitter, more balanced and flexible and simply just healthier. We also work all day long at making people feel good and look good, and love to see these goals progress simultaneously.

What should our readers know about your business?

I started in 2018 with one pilates studio in the Club Pilates franchise, I opened the second studio in 2019 and the latest studio opened in September 2020. Even I thought I was crazy to open a studio, 2 months after the lockdown ended. But our instructors and our entire team came back with purpose, we were going to be stronger, stronger people, stronger teachers and a stronger business. We survived, and we have helped make a lot of people stronger in the process too.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?

I would have my son take us out on his boat, the Bay, the Cays are all so beautiful. Dolphins, sunshine and fresh air. We’d have dinner at any number of amazing restaurants, in Miami Beach or even the Grove, and for exercise a class at any Club Pilates Studio in Miami… they are all great!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?

There have been so many people who have encouraged me, the advice my Grandfather gave me has perhaps guided me the most, he told me not to ask for an easy load in life, but to ask for broad shoulders to carry any load. What a year to dig out that advice, I am grateful for his and other wisdom that people have shared with me over the years. I am also grateful to be in a community like Miami that has fought hard together to overcome this challenge we have all faced together.
